  1. Rarely happens, I was first round selected (first week of selection, early February) and found out one day before the release date (three weeks later). Hurry up and wait is not just a saying, it's a way of life. Good luck.
  2. I checked with my recruiter and the beginning of the security check must be completed before being commissioned. This consist of initializing the investigation and does not take long, not as long as scroll.
  3. Officership can only be approved by congress because we are appointed by congress to lead, therefore there is a period called "scroll" when we wait for congress to approve it's new officers. This is regardless of career. Scroll can take up to 3-4 months. I received my reserve approval within a month and my active approval two weeks latter then commissioned the next week. As with security clearance, I am not sure if there is a difference between prior-enlisted and non-prior. This could be the discrepancy, otherwise the process is standardized and by the book. You have plenty of time though and I would not sweat it. As with the security briefing with enlisted, it was with in-prosessing at the first base. Relax..... everything will happen in their time.
  4. I have not gotten word on my clearance but I was commissioned with knowing that if they are not giving me clearance then I have to give up my commission. I may not know about my clearance until I get my security briefing. That's how it was with enlisted. Are you waiting on congress to OK you? It has to pass both the reserve and active duty for congretional aproval. It's really just a formality that takes for ever.
  5. I am getting excited but I do not have my orders yet, should come in this week. I have not gotten my uniforms yet but that should happen in several weeks. Otherwise, bring it on!!!!! COT or bust!!!! he he, I'll keep everyone updated. Thanks for asking.
  6. As I am also Prior service, It is a consideration when going to boards. Considering you already know curtsy and procedures and core values. Good luck.....
  7. It is based from a calculation of combined time in service and time as a nurse. Unfortunately they only take half the time as a nurse into consideration. I would ask the recruiter for further details and they should be able to give you an idea of what grade you would be going in as.
  8. Ahhh OK, I was not sure what NTP was. Got it. I will be going to COT as a 1st Lt then Capt after one year. ALTRN0828, I have been reading the same, COT then NTP. I would imagine that you will be ranked up also.
  9. Active from 95- 2000 and loved it. Why I asked, I'm not sure if the prosses is different if you still in the active reserve. If so, I'll try to be as much help as I can with COT.
  10. Thanks LN75, it will be great to get back to the AF family. I don't mind at all if you do some brain picking. It's good to be informed. With being prior-service I'm sure you will be a shoe-in. Just to clarify, are you still in the service (reserve) or prior-service? Ether way, talk to you soon.
  11. Well, done waiting... I have been cleared though congress and my commissioning will be next week. I will be getting my uniforms setup beginning of the month. I also passed the psych cert today. It's been a good day! I hope all goes smooth for everyone.
  12. Hurry up and wait is the name of the game. I have been approved by congress for reserve officer but now I am waiting for them to approve me for active duty. In the meantime I am waiting for my recruter to get off convalescent leave so we can go to Maxwell and get my uniforms setup. I can't wait to get my orders but I have to wait till I get commissioned and that won't happen till congress approves me for active duty. Soooooooo........ I'm working on getting my psych cert. Got to do something.......
  13. I will be going to COT on May 29th, I will probably have my uniforms by that time. I will let you all know the $$$$$.
  14. I can only relay what I have done with my recruiter. I would recommend following his/her directions and pay attention to details. Good luck.
