Hi guys, I have just recently renewed my license for the first time since graduating nursing school in 2012, so now it is my first time doing continuing ed credits. Does anybody know what programs and companies are approved for Illinois continuing ed? Is netCE? I have seen quite a few nurses using that for CE's. Thanks!

Hey everybody, I just started my first nursing job a month ago at a family clinic. I love it! Anyway, I applied for a Clinic RN job and interviewed for a Clinic RN job. In my interview, the Dr. asked if I would like to take on Office Manager duties. I thought "Sure, it'll be fun expanding my knowledge," since I had never worked in an office before. Well, it turns out the Dr. is trying to muscle the other Office Manager out of the office on personal issues. He bad mouths her a lot. My Dr. expressed to his boss that he would like me to take over Office Manager duties. I had a meeting with his boss to discuss the issue. That boss told me that the Dr. had no authority to ask me to take on Office Manager duties, due to the fact of labor laws, change of title, and salary issues, and the current Office Manager is doing a good job now, and because I am so new to nursing and the office environment, it would be inappropriate for me to be the Office Manager. She did say that I am allowed to assist the Office Manager if need be. I AM COMPLETELY OK with that. With me being so new, it would be inappropriate. So, I return to the clinic and the Dr. asks me about the meeting. I tell him what she said, and the Dr. told me to totally disregard her and that he wants me to take over the clinic. Mind you, he is telling me to disregard HIS boss. This issue goes somewhat deeper, but I feel I am being used as a pawn, and it is making for a very uncomfortable workplace. I love my job, but I am in a pickle.

I have an interview at a family health clinic on Tuesday I passed the interview with the HR rep and he said I will be interviewing with the doctor of the clinic, but I will also be shadowing him as well. Has anybody else had to interview with a doctor? What kind of questions do they ask? Would he want me to demonstrate any skills for him? I'm just kind of in the dark here on what to expect. Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm not here to complain or whine about no job. I know it'll come soon. I was just wondering if there is something wrong with my resume. I graduated May 2012 with an ADN in Illinois, with no nursing experience except for clinicals. I do have some volunteer time under my belt at a hospital. So while I'm playing the waiting game, I've had to get a job to get money flow in. In the meantime I have become a Support Manager at a company. I was hoping since I lack nursing experience, having managerial experience on my resume would help. I even used "buzz" words like assign, delegate, and instruct in my resume. So basically is there anyway I can get a leg up? Do I need to do CE's? Unfortunately, I can't volunteer now since I work. Every person I have come across, I have asked if they know any nurses I can get in touch with. Just looking for suggestions. Hope everybody's doing well! Thanks!

You're not the only new grad nurse out there who can't find a job. All across the country new grads are having a horrible time finding a job. THE NURSING SHORTAGE IS A MYTH. I moved states away from home to find a job and have yet to find one. I graduated in May 2012. Been having to apply for minimum wage jobs just to get some cash flow. I recommend trying to get as many certifications as you possibly can and also volunteering at a local free clinic. They will use your skills as a nurse more than a volunteer program at a hospital and maybe get some good connections for finding a job. Stay strong :) and remember you're not the only one in this boat.

Hey everyone, I'm a nurse from Illinois who relocated to Texas. I already have a temp nursing license for Texas. I finished all my endorsement requirements and the BON stated it would take ten days for everything to go through. That was a month ago. I'm still waiting on my permanent license. Has anyone had to wait this long?

I love nursing, I really do, but honestly if I knew the job prospects were like this, I would have chosen another major.

I graduated in May 2012 with an ADN. I moved from Illinois to Texas for better job prospects. I've applied for 50 jobs and have heard nothing. Plus, I'm applying to other minimum wage jobs just to have an income. I keep getting the "overqualified" speech, and can't land a minimum wage job. I'm about to lose my mind. Anybody else having these employment issues?

So, go figure, I am having a horrible time finding a job here in the US... hundreds of resumes in multiple states. I am US born and received my ADN in May 2012. I am considering taking the job search international. Does anyone know of any countries that are in need of US nurses or can recommend a good international recruiting company? I am willing to move anywhere. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I have passed my NCLEX. Wooo! After I pay my 60$ licensing fee, how long until I get my official license in the mail from Illinois? I am moving out of state in a couple of weeks and would like to know if I get my paper license sooner than later. Thanks!

Hello everyone, So I'm a new grad ADN RN from Illinois who is relocating to Austin, TX in a few weeks. I hear the market is horrible for nurses down there. Hiring freezes, etc... can anyone give me any pointers to stay positive? Also, how many resumes and interviews did you all have to go through until you finally secured a job? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm doing a careplan on a c-section newborn I want by priority nursing dx to be risk for ineffective airway clearance because the newborn developed a croupy cough. She also had weak muscle tone. Would an appropriate nursing dx be: Risk for ineffective airway clearance r/t nasal and oral secretions and weak muscle tone. Or is the nasal and oral secretions more of an AEB? Maybe the dx should be related to the c-section since babies have a higher chance of having respiratory issues with c-sections. So maybe Risk for ineffective airway clearance r/t maternal surgical intervention AEB nasal and oral secretions and weak muscle tone? Thanks everyone!

I'm doing a care plan on a expectant mother. She has 4 children already, but is coming across some stressors in her life. She is having marital problems, financial problems, and is 40 years old. This was an unexpected pregnancy and is now having preterm labor problems due to all the stress. Would an appropriate nursing dx be ineffective coping r/t external stressors of pregnancy AEB preterm labor complications? She has been to the doctor looking for a physical issue with her related to the preterm contractions and the doctor said she needs to reduce her stress. Thanks!

Hello, I'm a nursing student and I had a patient who had a right metatarsal fx on 10/12/11. She had the fx on 10/9. Her foot hadbeen dressed and splinted. Her activity order at first was bed rest, then it was changed to up with one assist. I had her use the walker while I supported. Should she have been up and walking only 3 days after her fracture?

So I am working on my careplan. We have to prioritize 5 nursing diagnosis's and pick the top two to make concept maps on. I'm having trouble prioritizing my list. Here's my situation. Does risk for infection always trump risk for falls? Even though my patient has a higher risk for falls than risk for infection. My patient- A rare form of anemia resolved by blood transfusions +3 edema in legs Numbness in hands and feet from diabetic neuropathy Beginning of pressure ulcer on lower back Surgical wound on right hip- dressing was clean and dry Been in the hospital for 2 and a half weeks Was discharged 3 hours after my shift started Here's my list 1. Risk for Infection r/t post surgical wound 2. Risk for falls r/t fluid retention in peripheral extremities, numbness, and activity order as evidenced by +3 edema in legs, complete numbness in hands and feet, and activity order of bedrest. 3. Impaired Skin Integrity r/t activity order 4. Excess fluid volume r/t fluid retention in peripheral extremities as evidenced by +3 edema in legs 5. Activity intolerance Other NANDA Dx i could use- Constipation, impaired physical mobility, impaired walking, ineffective peripheral tissue profusion, risk for impaired peripheral neurovascular dysfunction Thank you anyone for your help, it is much appreciated!
