  1. Its been a while since my original post, but I'm considering broadening my experience (currently working on a medical floor in a hospital). This experience is in preparation for work in the ccac as a care coordinator. I am torn between working as a visiting nurse in the community, working in a nursing home, or telehealth. Obviously working in the community as a visiting nurse would be beneficial but I wonder if the other two options might be useful as well. FYI I currently have 2 years experience on the medical unit.
  2. Thanks for your replies Silentdivide and joanna73! Yes I can definitely see why people want to move to BC, and why it would be competitive to get a position there. I do have two years of experience on a medical floor, but I won't hold my breath. Why didn't I go to UVIC for my nursing degree...sigh
  3. Hi everyone, Thanks for your replies. Some of you mentioned it was difficult finding a job in victoria. That was a year ago...i heard it is now easier to get a position there. I wouls be interested to know from those of you who work in victoria what you think?
  4. Thanks for your reply Joanna. I figured at least a couple of years experience would be required, and experience in different settings (e.g. home health care) would be an advantage. If you have insight into the nature of work as a Case Manager I am interested in what you like and dislike about this type of work?
  5. Hi there, I've been considering a move into Case Management for the CCAC and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the pros and cons of working in this capacity. I currently work as an RN on a medical unit, and am also wondering how much (and what type) of experience is preferred for candidates working in Case Management in the CCAC? Thanks very much in advance :)
  6. Well the exam is over, and if -as Eminem says- we only got one chance to 'blow', then perhaps I blew it I am just curious how other found the test...whether it seemed more or less difficult than the practice tests. Also, I'm curious if anyone has an idea of what the passing percentage might be for this test. From reading previous posts I've heard that it ranges from 59%-68% depending on the difficulty of the test. I'm hoping they don't rate this one as an 'easy' test (ie by making the passing grade 68% or higher). One comment I would like to make is that although the Moseby study guide was ok, the sample questions do not reflect the CRNE test. I wish I had known that earlier. I hope everyone else is as glad as I am that this is over....now we just have to cross our thumbs and wait!
  7. Hi everyone. I've just graduated an RN program in Ontario, but I've always wanted to move to BC, and I'm wondering what the job market is like in BC right now. I've read several other threads in which students have been struggling to find work there, but I wonder if its any worse than in Ontario (its not so good in Ontario either right now). Two places I've really fell in love with in BC are Victoria and Nelson. I know they are very different places, but they are both truly amazing places to live in my opinion. Anyways, I'm interested in working Med-Surg and/or mental health. Any advice on what the market is like in BC for new grads, is greatly appreciated!
