  1. i just got a ticket today, from getting home from work for speeding, I'm sorry but I'm a night shift nurse, if i go too slow i will fall asleep on the wheel so i go faster than i should, i got pulled over, begged the officer to give me a verbal warning, i had my uniform and RN badge still on and he still gave me a ticket, plus in the back of my car it says, be nice to me, i may be your nurse one day!, he still gave me at ticket, this the second one in a year I've gotten them and i have had no mercy, since I've been a nurse.... so yes nurses do get tickets:sour:
  2. its so tough for us new grads!!!, I've put in over 100 applications all over southern california and some in northern california as well, no word or call yet, the hospital that i did my clinical rotations at are hiring new grads left and right, there is so many new grad job postings! either way, none but two of applications have been forwarded to a nursing manager, a lot of my colleagues, tell me to go in and introduce myself to the nursing managers, I'm skeptical about this, as i know they are busy, and i don't want to turn them off or wash away any chances of getting hired, so I'm very confused as to what to do..... should i go in and introduce myself, I'm not saying demand an interview, but at least give them my resume. A lot of my friends have gotten hired by simply introducing themselves to the nurse manger.... I'd like to know your experiences in this area, and any possible suggestions. i know calling is a suggestions but I'm talking about walking in to floor.
  3. hello! im a first semester nursing student!, and im excited to be starting Nursing school, but the amount of reading is soooo paramount that i have not time to anything else, so my question is... should i read from a textbook, to study for my exam, or should i focus more on the powerpoints they lecture on, and also they're questions they have us answering, ive been reading my textbook like they have asked but have not had time to also read the powerpoint slides or learning objectives, do you guys have any tips? what did you focus on when you were in school? thanks!
