Travel company you are happy with...
Hi all... I'm finally beginning the process to start travel nursing but I, like most other new travelers, am terrified! Obviously, it's unnerving leaving my full time position but shopping for a great travel company may drive me insane. I read blogs, articles, top ten lists, etc but still am nervous to take the plunge. Does anyone absolutely love their company and have been with them for at least a few assignments? I have talked to a large company and have felt mislead and have spoken to a smaller company but they do not arrange housing for you so that doesn't sound good either. Considering I am traveling alone, I should probably only stick with a company that provides housing, right? It seems extremely stressful to find reliable housing in a city I have never been too? I realize everyone's opinion and experience is different but I'm looking for a company I can trust and provides housing and need advice. Is travel nursing still worth it with the economy the way it is?? (I realize these questions have been asked but it seems a lot of threads are from years ago..) Thanks for your time!

Is Cardiac Telemetry good experience to begin travel nursing?
Thank you for the advice, I ended up taking the ICU position! I'm really excited about it & figure with the job market becoming more saturated with nurses, I better get my experience when the opportunity presents itself! Have fun traveling, I'm pretty jealous & hope to join in a few years! =)

Is Cardiac Telemetry good experience to begin travel nursing?
Hi! I have been working on a Cardiac Telemetry unit for two years and am hoping to begin traveling. Are there a lot of Cardiac Tele travel opportunities or would it be a better idea to transition to an ICU or ER job for a year before traveling? I am really wanting to begin traveling and have seen cardiac tele jobs but I'm not sure how this job would be as a travel nurse. Working on my floor can be extremely overwhelming at times but luckily we have a good team and are able to help each other. I feel like being a travel nurse on a tele floor may be even more overwhelming considering you know no one. I realize that as a travel nurse in general it will be overwhelming at first because you are a fish out of water basically. I really love cardiac and would love to do ICU or ER one day but at this point in my life, it would be perfect timing to start traveling. I would love to see different parts of the U.S. and meet new people. Just wanting some opinions =) Thank you!

The "dirty" side of nursing...
Yes it gets better, quickly!! Soon you'll be talking about someones bowel movement while eating lunch haha. The only thing that still gets me is phlegm and dirty dentures (with chewed up food stuck in them)! But I never let the patient see me cringe he he! =)
