ADN nurses in AZ greater Phoenix area
Hello nurses! I am moving to AZ in early 2014 and I am very much wanting to get in to a hospital setting. I currently live in Utah. I have had my RN license and have been working at a physical rehabilitation facility for just over 1 year. I graduated with an associates degree. I've been doing some research and I am aware that Banner hospitals are no longer hiring ADN nurses, with some rare exceptions it seems, ie. good connections or an impressive background. I'm REALLY tired of the setting I am currently working in. I took the job with the understanding that the hospitals in my area want new grads to have at least one year of experience elsewhere before hiring. I'm wondering what all you know about other hospitals in the greater phoenix area hiring ADN nurses. Do I have a chance? I've been looking at online BSN programs but I am totally disgusted by the cost. And honestly, I am still totally burned out from nursing school. It's not something I WANT to do.... Any info would be greatly appreciated.

New RN on the first job hunt
I'm traveling to St. George, Utah for 2 days to submit my application in person everywhere I can. I've submitted/applied to jobs on the main hospital website but I will also stop in there to "say hi". I'm planning to relocate there as soon as I can get a job. This will be my first job as a new nurse so I know my inexperience is a disadvantage and I need to really make a good impression. I've got myself a perfect little interviewing suit (the black skirt, blazer, short heels) but I don't know if I should wear that to drop off applications, or if I should just wear something nice. It's my ONLY interviewing suit, so keep in mind that if I wear it to apply, I will be wearing it again for the interview. St. George is HOT so I have lots of maxi dresses that I WANT to wear but I realize that might be too cutsie. I could wear dark jeans and a nice blouse and some good heels as well. eek. I'm a stresser and I need some guidance. :) Also, I'm a little unsure about cover letters. I've been using them for online applications, editing them to target each position. Do I include a cover letter when applying for jobs in person? I WANT you to say no... because I hate them. And I dread the idea of making up 20 individualized cover letters. I have a list of places I am going to apply to, but I imagine there will be places I come across that I will want to stop in and apply. Any advice is very appreciated.

Resume Questions
I am having these same frustrations! There are so many opinions about what you should and shouldn't put on a resume-- I know there is no way I will finish my resume and feel 100% good about how I've presented myself. I think I'll just go back to school. :rotfl: JUST KIDDING!! Good luck to you!

Physician Assistants in psychiatric hospitals?
My father is a Physicians Assistant and worked at the Utah State Psych Hospital for 20 years. Although I suppose it is possible that the trend has changed.
