How many air bubbles required to endanger patient?
Hello everyone, In school or in public, we always learn that air bubbles in blood vessels will kill a person. But I have also heard someone said "it takes a full IV tube of air bubbles to kill a patient". So air bubbles in IV tubes are not to worry about, especially when you're infusing by gravity. I forgot who told me that and I can't verify that again anymore. Do any of you guys know which is right? Derek

Where can Canadian NCLEX passers licensed to work in US?
Well she specifically said that Canadian NCLEX can only work in limited States only, mostly far away and small States. Of course, unless she was wrong. Haha. But thanks. I mean, it doesn't really matter. Not like there are other exams we could choose to take lol

Where can Canadian NCLEX passers licensed to work in US?
I thought switching to NCLEX lets Canadian nurses work everywhere in US. But recently, a colleague of mine, who passed NCLEX recently, told me they are only licensed to work in very limited States only. My colleague doesn't remember what States they can work as she wasn't planning to work in US anyway. So I started to google where can Canadian NCLEX passers licensed to work in US and I found nothing, except a very general statement saying each State has different registration requirements. Would anyone know what States can Canadian NCLEX passers licensed to work? Thanks! Derek

Passed the CNO exam registration deadline
Hi all, I recently moved to a new place and my old landlord just gave me the CNO package letter to register for the nursing exam. So the deadline for the May exam was March 4, 2013 and it's 3 days passed the deadline already. Do you think I can still have any chance to apply for the May exam? Have you heard of any stories about missing the deadline but still be able to apply? Thanks! Derek

Lung auscultation question
Hi all, I am a nursing student going to my pre-grad in Jan. I have a question that bothered me for so long and I'm too scared to ask my instructor. I often can't hear any lower lobe lung sounds. Like, 90% of the pts I auscultated I can't hear any lower lobe lung sounds. However, I see other nurses charted "A/E to bases bilat" for those pts. I don't think I have any hearing problems as I am able to hear upper lobe lung sounds. So I am wondering, and I hope you guys can answer me honestly, do nurses just assume pts have air entry to bases as long as they don't hear any adventitious lung sounds? I want to be a better nurse, that's why I want to solve this puzzle I had for years. If there are really something wrong with my hearing or skills, I wanted to know. Derek
