  1. Aspen is very attentive to the needs of their students. I feel confident if you continue your education there you will not regret it. As with anything in life hard work has great payoff's. I have learned a lot throughout my time in the Aspen University program.
  2. MTSTEELHORSE is right the whole problem that is surrounding the furture of nursing is going to be the lack of nursing educators. There are simply not enough to educate the number of students that will be necessary to meet the demands of the looming nursing shortage crisis. Pay at the present is not that great for online educators but in brick and mortar institutions the pay and benefits are there. I am currently enrolled at Aspen and have found the classwork to be challenging but worthwhile. I think that obtaining a Masters should not be a piece of cake if it is question the program. Aspen's cost cannot be beat at the present. The nice part about there program is when family issues strike you can step back deal with the issue and get back in the game. Myself as an older nurse I want the flexibility to wind down and keep my hand in nursing This program will allow me to travel and teach onlne or pick up classes in my local universities. I am an NP and I am here to tell you the job is stressful and in comparison to the responsibility and financial reimbursement it stinks. It is disappointing when RN's are making more that you do. So think about it and good luck in your decision.
  3. Kevin You would find a good education @ Aspen. There is no sense in digging a deep money pit. MSM prints out the same wherever you get the degree
  4. I spoke with the Dean of Nursing I am SURE she knows and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you. Give her a call.
  5. Aspen is CCNE accredited and Regionally accrediited.
  6. I am so glad to hear all is well. If it is okay with you post a note in the MSN Cafe so we can chat further. I know this school is the best option and very affordable. The support is beyond compare. I am looking forward to learning with you!
  7. I just wanted to reassure you that Aspen is a great choice! I have only good things to say. It was a long time since I had been back in the classroom but they are wonderful and provide great support. You could not ask for better classmates either!! I am sure you won't be disappointed!
  8. hello babynurse73, I am also a student at Aspen University and could not be happier. Everyone I have been in contact with is supportive. I will have an MSN as a nursing educator and I will not be in debt up to my ears. The courses are interesting, challenging, and manageable. This is an awesome choice for my higher education.
  9. Hi Quiet 1, Glad to hear you are joining the group. I am sure you will like it. Be sure to identify yourself when you get to the discussion board. Welcome.
  10. Is the BSN ULTIMATELY going to make a difference when the end reselt is the MSN. Will you be able tomake the same amount of money while you have your BSN that you will spend getting the BSN? WGU wants you to think they have a better course but when education is so expensive do the dollars and cents add up?
  11. I am a student at Aspen and I must say it is a great program. It is mostly found from word of mouth. They do not advertise so to keep their costs down for the students. I was involved in the recent re-accredidation process and the reviewers were impressed not only with the caliber of students but the program as a whole. Aspen makes higher nursing education attainable without putting the student in the poor house.
  12. I am enrolled at Aspen and could not be happier! It is a great choice and I am not going to go broke getting my Masters. Check it out! They walk like they talk.
  13. I use Style Ease for APA 6th edition. There is no perfect program out there but this helps. You should get the APA book they recommend and Fionda the Bridge instructor has created a great site that offers a lot of help. You are going to do great don't worry.
  14. I am glad to hear that you have everything worked out and things are a go! See you in the classroom! Mary
  15. We are going to make a great group!
  16. Great choice you won't regret it. See in the classroom I am looking forward to collaborating with you:yeah:
  17. Nizhoni I will see you in the MSN Cafe soon, and Mtsteelhorse congrads on a great decision for your future. See you in the Cafe too!
  18. The CCNE interview consisted of approx 10 students we were all on a telephone conference call with 2-3 members of the credentialing committee. They had many questions for us about our experience at Aspen. What was reassuring for me was that everyone felt the same way I did. Everyone had positive comments. Another thing that I came to realize was that I was in a group of top notch professionals. No one was arrogant everyone had a mutual respect for each others background. It was cool. What an experience. I do not think that that would have happened elsewhere.
  19. This is a relatively new nursing program but the dean has many years of educational experience. Aspen has years of online educaational experience the nursing program is just a new extension of that. I am enjoying being one of the front runners. They value my imput. I have a strong sense of ownership in the program. I have value there and it is not related to my tuition. The CNCC came through recently and I was on the interview panel and the were impressed. Do not be afraid of APA it is their job to guide you. That is the whole point of going to school. If you already knew how there would be no point to higher education. I use Style Ease for 6.0 APA but still check with the APA publication. I am starting into my third course in the BSN portion and I have had good support along the way. I know that I will be able to look back and have a feeling of pride that I was here in the beginning. I buy my book online from Barnes and Nobel I belong to their program and get a great discount and they are delivered right to my door. I know that programs like University of Phoenix you have to purchase their books and they cost a fortune.
  20. The tuition must be paid up front to get the $100.00 per cerdit. The first part about $2100.00 for the BSN portion and the rest is due when you start the MSN portion. Total cost for the complete RN to MSN is around $7,000.00 the is very inexpensive. They are everything they advertise and more. I hope to see you in the classroon.
  21. Aspen is so inexpensive because they choose not to advertise. This keeps their overhead down. Honestly as a student there I have no complaints this is a fantastic institution.
  22. i agree with nizhoni. i am not employed by aspen. i am a student that is just having a fantastic experience. i was initially terrified about returning to school after so many years but they have taken thaat fear away and also made it affordable. the have the same accreditation the the major universities in my area have. their tuition is in the neighborhood of $45,000.00. i am even using some of the same books. no contest!
  23. Courses are typically 10 weeks long but are easily completed in 8 weeks. Discussion board posts are 2 per module and 2 responses but it is not unusual to maintain the discussion because you want to not because you have to. There are no group projects. It is self paced. They are REAL and very supportive. There is a project in the RN-BSN portion and a project in the MSN portion but the way it is outlined is VERY manageable. They have taken the adult learner to heart.
  24. I am a student at Aspen in the RN-MSN program and there is no shoe that is going to drop. The tuition is low because there is financial incentive to pay ahead. They are able to do this because of low overhead and no advertising. The dean and instructors are fantastic. Ther are NO group projects!!!! I was interviewed by the CNCC and they were impressed with the students and the institution. Aspen is taking the future nursing shortage seriously and have made a committment to do something about it.
  25. Goodevening everyone, I just wanted to put my two cents in.......Aspen is a great program and If you choose it for your path to higher education you will not be disappointed. The work load is manageable and you are not just a number.
