starting RN to BSN at Purdue Calumet!
I am applying to Purdue for rn to bsn as well. How easy is the online program used for the courses? I have also applied to University of Texas Arlington but want a program with the most easy to navigate online course set up and good support if needed. Also am just wanting the best/most recognized Rn to BSN program out there for my money as I want to get into a good MSN program after.Opinions anyone?

Online Rn to BSN at Purdue or UTA?
Hey everyone! I am going to be starting my online RN to BSN hopefully sometime in the next few months and am finding it daunting at best to sift my way through the endless amount of programs offered out there. So far I have applied to University of Texas at Arlington and am applying to Purdue at Calumet this week. I have been reading through all of the posts I could find on here and other nursing forums as far as reviews of these programs and it seems mixed. Does anyone have any first hand experience to either of the above online programs that they wouldn't mind sharing? UTA is cheaper but some posts have stated poor website design/difficult to navigate online programs and poor support. Purdue is a couple grand more but to me would be worth it if it was a superior online program. I also know that Purdue, at least in other degree areas, is meant to be a really great school. Any advice on either of these or even suggestions for other awesome online programs that aren't to pricey are very much appreciated. x

Any good australian travel companies?
Thank you! I will look at them! Do you know if they still handle overseas nurses? I looked at several companies and I believe this was one of them and it was questionable as to whether they still dealt with nurses not from australia ... On a side point, how do you feel the job market is out there for overseas traveling nurses? Is there a lot out there? Thank you so much for your feedback!

Any good australian travel companies?
Hello All!!! Thanks for reading! I am looking to do some travel nursing in/around Sydney, Australia in a few months and am on the hunt for a great travel company! I can see several posts on here previously for this but most are a few years old with a lot of the agencies out of business/name change/etc. Does anyone have any good/bad experiences they would like to share? Or any advice in general on the topic would be so so helpful!! Thanks again!

US nurse moving to Australia
Hello All, Now that I have sent in for my nursing registration I am now on the debate of how to go about searching for a job in Australia. I am an US citizen, I have been a nurse for nearly 5 years, 3 of them in critical care and one of those in pediatric critcal care. I am planning on spending some time in Sydney very shortly to try it out there and if I like it, would be interested in moving there. My dilema now is: Do I attempt a traveling company or do I contact some hospitals directly? What would take less time and/or what would be better in the long run? In addition, which visa would be easier to get? At this point I have discovered that since I am from the US I am not eligible for the working holiday visa (darn!) so I know I would need to get either the skilled worker visa or the sponsored skilled worker visa. Which is easier to get? Does anyone have experience with this and would be willing to lend some advice..? Also, what is the job situation like there now? I am aware of the nursing shortage that was there several years ago but is it the same now? Does anyone have any hospital suggestions in Sydney? I would be shooting for Adult or Pediatric Emergency Department. Thanks so much for your time! liabug

Advice on registration for US RN moving to Australia
Interesting... when you say full resp checks are you just meaning listening to lung sounds in general? I work in a pediatric trauma unit at the moment and I cant imagine not being able to assess my peds pt's resp status. However, your guy's respiratory therapists are called Physiotherapists.. is that right? so are they doing all of this work usually? Thanks!

Advice on registration for US RN moving to Australia
ceridwyn thanks so much for your post - put me a little at ease :) Yes I had heard they do case by case basis so hopefully my years of critical care experience will help fill in some of the gaps if there are any. Im looking at getting the whole application together and whatnot by the end of this month. Oh Im so excited to come check out Australia! Hey to any nurses currently practicing in oz: what is the autonomy and overall work environment like there? I have heard a little of both - some have stated that working in an ICU there is really no different than working in an ICU here in the states - nurses get lots of responsibility, they are in a close healthcare team along with the doctors, they are expected to think critically about pathophysiology and the dispo of the patient.. is that the case? If so, is this the same in the ED? Other people have also mentioned however that it was basically just bedside care and very little responsibility .. even some horror stories about having to get up out of your chair when the doctor comes in the room so he/she can sit there.. (what???) Anyways, none of these were firsthand stories so if anyone has any knowledge on this please do tell!! Thanks so much for reading!!

Advice on registration for US RN moving to Australia
Hey Tami oh dear god i hope that is not the case. It is so difficult with the transfering of our credits/nursing education here to other areas of the world as I am finding out. When I looked over some earlier postings from other nurses on here I swear I do remember reading a post from someone who had their ADN who went straight in and got their RN in Oz with no issues. Yeah, if I had to go from working in a level one trauma center as an RN with tons of autonomy here to being considered an LVN or "EN" as they call it, I would be livid (particularly since I have gone to school as and RN not being considered as such would be ridiculous). I do believe they consider it on a case by case basis and on that note the only true way of finding out I suppose is applying.. but again, the boards and administration in Aussi have gone through a lot of changes lately as well. I was really just hoping this post would catch the attention of someone who has their ADN from the states and now works in Oz and has first hand experience. Ah, time will tell :) Thanks so much for your posts!

Advice on registration for US RN moving to Australia
Hello! thanks to all who took the time to reply to this thread - Tami - keep me posted on where you are at in the registration process. I really need to just take a day and go over the whole process. Ao what online site did you end up going to? When I went to the other one earlier it took me to the nursing and midwifery board as well. Again - this question is directed to anyone who may know: So in regards to my associates degree, since I do not have a BSN, does anyone have an answer about whether my associates will count? Does my 3 years of critical care experience count towards anything and is anyone checking this who may be working in oz with an associates from the US? I really appreciate everyone's help! Thanks!

Advice on registration for US RN moving to Australia
Hello all!! I am an RN working in Colorado with an associates in nursing that I recieved here in the US. Currently I have 1 year cardiac/telemetry and 3 years critical care experience in both the pediatric and adult Emergency room in a level one trauma center. I am looking to head to Australia sometime early next year and am wanting a little advice from anyone on nursing in Sydney, the registration process, if I will have difficulties obtaining registration with an associates degree and anything else that might be pertanent to my situation. I have been doing a bit of research on it and am just a little overwhelmed on how to get started - apply for jobs or contact the nursing board for that state first? Any advice at all would be helpful and greatly appreciated!!
