Hello, first off this is my first post here. Seems like a good place for me to learn and get some very helpful/useful information!! I am currently a first year student at Rio Hondo College. I'm doing GED and some pre-req's as of now and hoping to get into the Registered Nurse program. My question is, is there somewhere else I can go that skips the nonsence? My complaint is, there are pre-req's to the pre-req's, and I also need to take GED classes at the same time to graduate. Its very time consuming, and a waste of my time. I have not been in any nursing classes or anything close to nursing because I do not yet meet the requirements. A lot of these classes are things I took in highschool, except now they are costing me money!! Some are just plain rediculous and a total waste of my money. I was woundering if there are any Registered Nurse specific schools in the LA area that let you start in actual nursing classes. Even if they dont start you in the actual program, but at least in nursing releated pre-req's. I am well aware that nursing school is no breeze. My family is made up of nurses, great ones might I add :) . I cannot speak from experience ofcourse, but from what they speak of, its a very rewarding career, and something I wish to be a part of soon.
