Hello first time nurse I work in the UK and have nursed in South Africa and in the UK for a number of years, and have never read anything as dreadful as your story. Firstly, do you have a union to represent you, if your answer was yes, you could have taken your employers to town, you were in a critically dangerous situation and am not surprised you made a mistake and would have had every right to ask for help. Where was your manager,why couldnt she or he help, do you not have agency staff or bank staff as we call them here. Ideally you could have stipulated to your Manager that you can only do what is humanly possible and will write a statement to keep for yourself and one for your manager which she or he should sign that they have read it, you could then take this to your union for representation. I am keen to work in Canada and sincerely hope that I will not experience anything like this. I hope I helped you. Keep your head up high, You will find the right job.

Hello there HSP, there is nothing wrong with being sensitive. I am nursing in the UK and have nursed for 30 years! I have worked with numerous types of people, some should not be in the nursing profession as it is a very caring profession. It is very stressful but also rewarding, challenging and teaches one allot about life. It has always provided a job for myself and have always said it is a passport to the rest of the world. I am an HSP, have shed many a tear especially when certain people are bossy, I usually try and identify those who are like minded and find the support there.
