Thanks for your response. Can you share the process for being hired by the VA? Is it difficult and time consuming? How long have you worked for them?

Although the state of Illinois does not recognize the Excelsior RN program, I am under the impression that I could still work in Il. as an RN in a Veterans facility. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of this? I am a career fire fighter paramedic in Il. and want to become an RN.

Hi there. I am new to this forum and NOT a nurse (yet). Been a medic for 17 years and want to become an RN. Taking a traditional course on campus is pretty much out of the question while working. 1.Am looking into the Excelsior online program. Anyone familiar with this? 2. Illinois doesn't accept online programs for RN as far as I can tell so far, however I should be able to work in the VA facilities. Anyone with experience in this? Thanks for any help.
