pda use in nursing
I just got the Tungsten E too! I was wondering what programs you use to play your MP3 music, view pictures, etc. Do you have to purchase the programs? If so, do you have any good recommendations for programs? I appreciate your help! I am feeling a bit computer illiterate these days! JenniferC

pda use in nursing
Do you have programs on your PDA AND own the book? I am trying to decide whether I need to both the book and program or if the program alone is sufficient. This is in reference to drug reference guides and medical dictionaries. Appreciate your help!

Hopkins vs. UMD
bigmona, thanks for your input. it sounds like both programs have very great things to offer! I am glad to hear that you are enjoying UMD...it looks as though I will be there come January! I am going to send in my deposit in the next couple of days. What has your 1st semester been like at UMD? Do you have much free time for work/play? Do you get to know your classmates rather quickly? How competitive is it? Also, do you know anyone in the accelerated program that is taking the graduate level courses as substitutes for the undergraduate equivalent? I believe there are 3 classes that you can take but I wasn't sure if accelerated students had time for the harder classes. Sorry I have so many questions! By the way, Do you know what each school is ranked? I can't seem to figure out which is higher than the other (granted, they are both GREAT schools with awesome facilities!). just curious... Thanks for your advice!!! JenniferC

Hopkins vs. UMD
Financially, it is such a HUGE difference. The new 17-month program at JHU would end up costing $45K on tuition alone while UMD would be significantly lower. It sounds like the personal attention would make a huge difference in your friend's case considering the intensity of the nursing program. I will have to make a decision pretty soon and I will not have any information regarding financial aid to help me with my decision. Right now, I am leaning towards UMD...

Hopkins vs. UMD
Can anyone here give some insight on the differences between the two programs? If you had to decide between the two schools which would you choose...granted JHU is twice as expensive! Is it worth it? And how much can they really help you financially? Are there any major differences between the two schools in terms of education, personal attention, outside opportunities, clinicals, job search??? I would greatly appreciate any input!

Accelerated BSN at UMB
It has been a while...I do know that the first round of letters have gone out. Fortunately, I have gotten in! I wish you all the best of luck as well! I know how nerve racking this is!

Accelerated BSN at UMB
BigMona, That was really helpful information! Good luck with everything and keep us posted as to how you are handling the program. Have you any idea how many they will be looking to accept for the Spring class Tradtional/Accelerated? JenniferC

Accelerated BSN at UMB
I learned from the open house that it is possible to take graduate level courses while an undergraduate at MD and begin to earn credits towards a master's degree. Do you know many people that are doing that? And if so, is it possible to do it as an accelerated student? Right now, I am a nervous wreck waiting to hear back from UMD! I keep hearing of highly qualified people getting turned down...Do they let everyone know at the same time? If it is indeed rolling admissions, how come they don't let you know as they make their decision? I also got the letter that said that I was granted in-state classification...what a tease! Do they really have to do that to us? Anyone else in the same boat?

Accelerated BSN at UMB
Caroline, I am in the same boat! I have applied to the accelerated program at UMD and JHU and am waiting to hear back! Yes, this part is the most nerve racking! I submitted my application in mid-august and was told I wouldn't hear back for 2-3 months! I am just hoping it will be sooner than they say. Hopefully, you will have enough time to secure housing in time to start school. best of luck with that! I also wouldn't worry too much about the funding b/c the truth is--not many people DO have the money to pay for school. That's where loans/grants (if you can get them) come into play. I also have a bachelor's degree and will probably only qualify for loans. There are also some programs out there that will help pay back your loans if you commit to working in the state or for a designated amount of time after graduation or in high need areas. The bottom line is- you are doing what you love and it will all pay off in the end...even if it takes you a few years! Look forward to chatting!
