Have you ever been tested for dyslexia? A friend of mine failed the boards several times. She is very smart and it didn't make sense. Finally, she found out she had a mild form of dyslexia that was just enough to confuse her with test questions. Once she learned how to compensate for it, she took the Boards and passed.
Locust, What state do you live in? I can't believe any BON would strip you of your license for an error in judgement - espeically when there was no pateint harm and you are obviously very remorseful. It seems like a class in Ehtics would be more appropriate with maybe come restrictions on your license - but a complete Cease and Desist action? You shouldn't stand for that - the punishment does not fit the crime. Good luck, sunshine.
I would like to encourage you to contact your area Board of Nursing. They can clear this question up as to whether it is a crime or no big deal to CALL yourself a nurse. This way you can either move on or submit a formal complaint. In North Carolina, it is a crime to call yourself a nurse if you do not have a license to practice nursing. It doesn't matter if you are actually practicing or not. NC takes very seriously the public's perception of nurses - and they don't play.
