Misdemeanor for assault???
Greetings, I do apologize for the delayed response. To answer your question, yes, my attorney gets to interview the jurors. Right now, he's trying to get the prosecutor to do one of two things: 1) have this case dismissed providing I take anger management. 2) If he refuses, to drop it down to disorderly conduct (arguing and using foul language is actually against the law here:eek:). If all else fails I would have to put up $5000 for a jury trial. I've already invested $2700 in this petty case so far. I think it's ridiculous. I just know that this incident has forever changed me. I hate to say this, but I can honestly say that I will never stop for anyone ever again. I don't care if they are walking down the street with blood gushing from their head. I'm NOT STOPPING! Why? B/C my attorney told me that anyone can call or visit a police station and say that you did something and boom, you'll find yourself spending a lot of money and standing in front of a judge. When I tell you my city is backwards, believe me. I just hope that when this all ends I'll be able to get licensed and find a job as a nurse. Are there any others out here that have an assault charge AND a nursing job?

Misdemeanor for assault???
Greetings, No, I didn't notice a court reporter present. It was in general district court, so they are not assigned. The judge seemed to have some sort of "beef" with my attorney. All of us found it really strange that the judge wouldn't allow my attorney to ask these two females questions. I do live in a small town and word travels fast. My attorney said it was a race issue (he's Caucasian, I'm Black & the two females were Caucasian) by the way. This is why we are appealing and taking it to circuit court. I have an appointment next week. I did find out some interesting news. A friend of mine brother was being jumped by two of his classmates. My friend's brother ended up beating these two by himself. A teacher came up behind him and choked him out, causing him to faint. Well, upon him fainting, he fell on the teacher. Mind you, this is a big young man. Well, the teacher got hurt b/c this kid (17) fell on him. Guess what? The court found him guilty of felony malicious assault. His attorney said, "This case is similar to the Johnson case we had yesterday." The judge inquired further. The attorney said, "Johnson & two females were arguing. Johnson walked up to her and accidentally bumped her. The court found Johnson guilty of intentional bumping. There have been many cases like this in this area where the court convicted innocent 'people'." The judge said, "Well, this case is different. Someone got hurt." It was the same scenario that I was in. All I can do is fight it legally and spiritually. I just have to have faith in God & in the legal system. My next trial will be in front of a jury. I just hope the jury can see pass the bull crap and make the right decision. True, I shouldn't have engaged in an arguing match. I should have never got out my car. But I did not intend for my big breast to bump up against some fat chick, with equally big breast.

Misdemeanor for assault???
Greetings All, Sorry for the delayed response. I wanted to wait until my trial was over. I was convicted of "chest bumping" The judge had already made up his mind when he 1st saw me. I did have a lawyer, in which I paid $1500. The judge got angry at my attorney for poking holes in these two female lies. They lied. They both contradicted each other. I'm appealing the conviction. I ended up being fined $100. That's IT! My attorney moved to strike & the prosecutor had NO objections. The judge on the other hand, sought differently. When the judge said "guilty" everyone (cops, both attorneys and everyone there) had a look of disbelief on their faces. So, appeal it is and that's $5000.

Misdemeanor for assault???
I didn't know I could do that. I wasn't given that option. I wish I would have thought about that in the beginning. But next time, I will keep my butt in the car. The officer said that's where I went wrong.

Misdemeanor for assault???
Greetings All, I was involved in an incident tonight where a woman flagged me down and started cursing me out. So, I got out my car and we were in each others face. Well, she pressed charges on me for "touching" her chest. I'm like "we both have breast" it's hard not to touch. So, I have to go to court now and worse case scenario, I'll be charged w/assault and battery, which is a misdemeanor. My question is, would that hinder me from getting a job as a nurse if I am convicted?

Remember me? I Got Accepted!
Greetings All, I just wanted to share the good news with everyone. Some of you may not recall, but I had applied to my college's Division of Nursing in July 2010. A few months later I found out that I needed to take my SAT's before my application would be considered for review. Mind you, I graduated high school in 1998. So, I registered for the SATs and took it on November 6th. I didn't do exceptionally well, but I scored well above the required score. Fast forward--I received my acceptance letter 2 weeks prior to the start of the current semester (January 10th). I almost didn't open the envelope. I thought it was an financial aid award summary. So, I just threw the envelope on the table and didn't open it until later the next night. Mind you, I had already registered for classes under my previous majors curriculum. So, around 7:30-8pm the next night, I decided to open it and I was shocked to read, "Congratulations! Your request for transfer into the Division of Nursing has been accepted...":yeah::thankya:So, needless to say, I had to log in to make some changes/additions to my course schedule. Unfortunately, they have a new curriculum, so, I have to take some prerequisite classes (8 total) before I can start taking NURS course. I have 6 more prerequisites to take. I'm currently taking A&P I and Speech. I'm limited to the classes I can take right now. My husband is in Afghanistan and we have three children. It's hard enough getting home every MWF after 8pm (YES, 8PM) Thank God for my babysitter. Without her willingness to watch my children after normal business hours, I wouldn't be able to go to school this semester. The classes at my college fills up quickly. Once they are filled, That's IT! You're, in essence, SOL (**** out of Luck!) That's it! I just wanted to share my good news!

What Would You Do?
Their testing is called NET (nurse entrance test). No one has told me anything else other than what I mentioned. The only thing that is holding me up is the test scores. I've been at Howard U. off & on since 2006. I transferred to SSU in Savannah, GA & did 3 yrs there. My hubby got out of the Army & we relocated back to the DMV area, so I ended up transferring back to HU. Either way, I really hate taking these tests. I feel like I'm in a big cluster "F-word"

What Would You Do?
Thank you for your reply. You're absolutely correct! An 840 just isn't going to cut it. I think the highest possible score when I took it was 1600. But guess what? I'm already a Jr. in college with a cumulative GPA of 3.77. This past semester, I had a 4.0. My issue is that they want me to give them SAT scores when I'm already admitted to the University. I'm just trying to get into the University's upper division nursing program. I'm not fearful of the writing portion on the SAT. I think back in 2004, I was pregnant & uncomfortable and was probably in a hurry. IDK! Hopefully, my test taking skills have improved. WISH ME LUCK! What if I take both? What harm could it do? I'm just wondering if I should tell them that I have old scores or just keep it hush-hush!

What Would You Do?
Greetings All, A few days ago, I had submitted a post regarding my SAT's & nursing school. Well, I decided that I was going to register for the next SAT test date, so I can have my application reviewed. Well, guess what? After I registered & put in my SSN, DOB, address etc. a message popped up & stated that I "already have an account associated with the information given & my information was sent to the email address already on file." The info in question is my Name, SSN & DOB. I've had the same 2 email addresses since 2001 (I neglected my yahoo), so it could have only been sent to one of those (it was sent to my yahoo). Well, my previous username popped up, but I had to reset the password b/c I didn't know the current one. I cannot believe that I actually forgot that I had taken my SAT's. I still don't remember taking them. According to the website, I took the test in June/2004 & my scores were sent on June 16, 2004. That's about all I remember.First of all, June 16 is my birthday. 2ndly, I was 7 months pregnant with my twins in June; I know my memory was shot to pieces. So, now what am I supposed to do? I had made a big fuss about not taking my SATs, and come to find out, I did. I don't want to appear to be a liar or anything negative. Nor, do I want them saying, "she wants to be a nurse with a memory like that?" How in the world could I have forgotten something like that? All I remember from 2004 was being preggo from the end of Dec/January through August. I was admitted to the hospital & put on bed rest for a month (July) until I delivered them on August 30th (34th week). Prior to that, I was in LPN school. To add insult to injury, my SAT scores were, in my opinion, horrible:eek: 440 Reading; 400 Math. I must have been a complete idiot back then or something. Or, it could have been my pregnancy & me going into labor at 28 weeks. If you were in my situation, what would you do? Would you just give them those scores or would you retake it, then submit the new scores (which I know will be higher than an 840).

At my boiling point...you are NOT a Nurse...of ANY kind!!!!
Your dialog brought back memories. As I stated in an earlier post...I've never called myself a nurse & I corrected those that did. I do remember several pt's telling me their C/C, followed by asking, "So, what's wrong with me?" My response: "IDK. I'm not a Dr or a registered nurse; I'm just an MA & it's against the law to diagnose Pt's w/out a medical license."

At my boiling point...you are NOT a Nurse...of ANY kind!!!!
I'm going to be honest, I haven't read none of the comments. I'll read them later. I just wanted to tell you that when I was considering going to PA school, I was explaining to my MIL what PA's do and she said, "oh, you're studying to be a Medical Assistant?" I said, "No! Physician Assistant." She said, "Same thing." I said, "No, they're not. I'm currently a medical assistant & I do clerical & clinical duties. I don't get to 'treat' or 'diagnose' patients with my current title. PA's, on the other hand does." Needless to say, it was an ongoing battle of who was right and wrong. Why did I just post this? IDK! I guess I'm playing devil's advocate and guessing that people like to use the word Nurse interchangeably with other health-care professionals b/c they are unaware of other health care jobs/professions. I guess in people's minds they feel if you're not a Dr then you're a nurse. I have to be honest, I call everyone nurse. I know, I know, I shouldn't call folks nurses when they are not. But it just rolls off the tongue (where is the tongue smiley?). Which one sounds better: Excuse me, Nurse! or Excuse me, Medical Assistant? When I worked as a MA, patients always said to me, "Nurse! Nurse" my naive behind said, "Where?":hhmth:OK, enough of my Tom-foolery. But seriously, I did say that. Then I would realize that they are talking to me. I ALWAYS said, "Oh, I'm not a nurse. I'm a medical assistant." They would say, "you are the nicest nurse I've encountered." I would then say, "Aww, thank you. But I'm not a nurse. I'm a MA." My geriatric patients never "GOT IT!" I'm not a nurse yet, but I did go to LPN school & dropped out due to military moves, twin pregnancy, no child care etc, and I'm almost 100% positive that if I was a nurse, I would be annoyed if someone called themselves something that they are not.

No sat score, no admissions! Non-traditional student
Exactly! That's what I told them. It just doesn't make sense to me. But I will do what I have to do. They take both the ACT & SAT. I'll do some research to see their differences. The thing that gets me is, for the past few years, I followed the curriculum for the physician assistant program & I'm only 2 classes from meeting their prerequisites (which is acceptable for admissions. As long as I'm not 15 credits in the hole, I can still apply & get accepted). The PA program does not require SAT scores. When I was admitted to the college, I didn't have any SAT scores. I was admitted based on my transfer credits, GPA, admissions essay & LORs. Now, that I'm at the same college, but under (tentatively) a different degree program, I have to take additional classes (8 to be exact). I can't do that either b/c they haven't viewed my application. OK, now I'm depressed!
