BSN vs direct-entry Nursing program
There are plenty of second degree bachelor programs around if you want a BSN. Most of the direct entry programs that give you a masters degree are aimed at people who want to become NP's. If you want to have your own clinic you would need to be an NP. In some states NP's can have their own clinic without needing a supervising physician (such as in NH) and other states you need to work under a physician (more like PA's). Your best bet is to talk to someone who is already in the field where you want to end up and see what their suggestion is. You should also talk to the nursing departments at the schools you are interested in and see if their program is geared towards your final goal.

Accepted Simmons Accel Nursing Dix scholar 2011
The math test applies even if you already have a bachelors degree. If your math course is more than 7 years old you either need to take a math class or the math competency exam which you can take at orientation. If you need to take it they can send you the link to the practice exam. If you can pass the practice exam you will be fine.

Dix 2 year - Fall 2010
Thanks! I finally got some info so I checked out both CPRboston.org and the Red Cross. The Red Cross course is 4 hours longer and $60 more so I don't know why anyone would take that one. Luckily things are starting to move along. Now I just need financial aid to send me that stuff sooner rather than later!

Dix 2 year - Fall 2010
The CPR is what I was worried about. I'm certified through work but I heard there is another one for health care providers that I'm guessing is more in depth. Hopefully I get that packet this week. Thanks so much for all the info!

Dix 2 year - Fall 2010
Thanks for your reply! I am hoping all that paperwork comes in the packet I am expecting this week. Are there clinicals the first semester? Do we need to take CPR before school starts? This is so last minute I am worried about getting everything done in time.

Dix 2 year - Fall 2010
Anyone starting the Simmons 2 year program this fall? I was recently accepted and have not received my info yet, just curious if anyone has info on orientation and what we need supply wise (steth, scrubs etc) to start the year? Thanks!
