Hi, First off let me say I've been reading for years now but this is my first post. This is a great resource for questions, that's for sure. My wife is an RN and I'm going for my LPN and at some point to my RN. Yes, I'm wanting to become a male nurse, and I'm not at all discouraged by the low number of men that do this, lol. So I went to Ivy tech to apply and the program is almost impossible to get into from what I'm hearing. The TEAS/core classes score has to be A's in my region and a high TEAS score to match to get into the LPN or ASN program. I've either got to retake an English Class I received a B in and *hope* I get accepted or find another college. 2 of the colleges here require perfect school records along with a high SAT. Brown Mackie is the only one I could fine that didn't. So, I'm exploring this option. I've read some good and a lot of bad. Has anyone attended this campus and program? What are the costs associated with it? Is it near impossible to complete? Is it harder to get a job with a brown mackie degree than Ivy Tech? As a brown mackie LPN can you do the ASN program? I can complete in 12 months with my previous work done already from Ivy Tech. Is this too short to retain what I need to know to be the best nurse I can be? Should I just wait it out a few times to get into the lpn program at Ivy tech or do the Brown Mackie thing? I knw, that's a lot of question. Your help is greatly appreciated.
