1. Discuss how you utilize and value the knowledge of other disciplines to solve patient care problems. What team members are you most often engaged with, and what is the unique expertise of each? As a Hepatology ARPN (I am a Med-Surg CNS with APRN, BC) I utilize other disciplines all the time. I utilize Mental Health and Substance abuse counselors all the time, as Depression and Substance Abuse were crucial issues that cause patients to develop liver problems. I also worked closely with their Primary Care Provicers to be sure all aspects of their health issues were being addressed, i.e., obesity, diabetes, htn, etc. 2. Describe how you demonstrate appropriate teambuilding and collaborative strategies when working with interprofessional teams. I always perceived that we are here for the patients. Therefore, it takes a "village" to take care of all aspects of complex patients. I am also a "Transplant Coordinator". The Transplant process requires many people, and disciplines, to be involved in preparing a patient and their support person in preparing for a transplant. 3. How do you see care applied within your particular nursing practice situation? As an APRN, I felt there were several important aspects of my practice. 1) diagnosis/treatment plan, mental health evaluation, educational needs evaluation, evaluation of planned/implemented interventions. When patients repeatedly said to me, "I have been to my doctors in my life, but no one has ever explained things the way you do. Now, I understand why this diet, medications, and life style changes are so important". 4. Describe the roles of different nurses (e.g., clinical nurse specialist, nurse executive, bedside nurse) in promoting safe and quality outcomes of care for diverse populations. CNS- educator of patient/family including follow up and education for effectiveness, Nurse Executive- mangement and implementation of nursing programs with oversight for the safety of nursing programs under their direction, Bedside Nurses-implementation of acute care safety prevention, such as fall risk, medication administration, prevention of skin breakdown and nosocomial infections such as IV and urinary catheter related infections. 5. Describe how you apply quality improvement processes to implement patient safety initiatives and monitor outcomes. How are nurse-sensitive indicators monitored in your institution? Application of QI have been triggered by incidents and patient problems. Therefore, QI has been a process as my two programs have developed. Nurse sensitive indicators have evolved from interests, observations of problems, and research based questions. 6. Describe how nurses facilitate patient-centered care in your institution and practice. How are patient-centered care and advocacy similar to and different from each other? ok, I'm done...I have no more time to give you for this. Whoever your instructor may be, our out of touch.....every question is actually TWO, not one, so this is 24 questions. I have given all the time I have to give to this.... 7. Describe a situation in your practice in which you could see that the principles of ethics, professional nursing standards, altruism, and human dignity affected your nursing practice or a specific outcome. 8. Describe a patient care initiative in your organization that improved outcomes and enhanced cost effectiveness in care delivery. 9. Describe how nursing research has improved or changed a particular aspect of patient care in your institution. How is the research project different from quality improvement activities? 10. Describe how information technology and patient data are used in your institution for ethical, effective clinical decision making and how patient confidentiality is protected. 11. Describe a particular situation in which you have been involved with the roles and responsibilities of a major healthcare regulatory agency that affected patient care quality, workplace safety, healthcare reimbursement, or the scope of nursing practice. 12. Compare nursing practice roles for the registered nurse, clinical nurse leader, advanced practice registered nurse, and clinical nurse specialist in your clinical setting. Describe specific differences in their duties, knowledge, and abilities.

I empathsize with your dilema. Start by comparing "normal" ecg measurements with what you have been given. There are decimal points missing for your numbers, so you might want to add those to your question. (For intance, normal PR interval > .20 would indicate a heart block.) I had just such a patient Sat evening. Her pulmonary edema was 2nd to her CHF, significant murmur, leading to crackles through out all fields, peripheral edema. She was recieving IVF at 100 cc/hr for 12 hours due to dehydration from 7 days of diarrhea. However, she only weighed 103#! Once I decreased her fluids, gave 20 mgm furosemide, her HR came down, saturation went up, and crackles were decreasing.....if you provide decimals for numbers, I can be of more help.
