Hi everyone just wanted to give a word of encouragement. The program that I am enrolled in is 14 months long and I remember saying the same thing "1 month and 14 more to go." Now I can say 8 down and 6 more to go. Even though it has been a never ending journey of reading and studying I can say that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It has also been a journey with a lot of rewards especially when working in a clinical setting and being able to care for others. Just hang in there and read read read!!!! You will be done with your program before you know it

Hi I am 44 and attend Jeff state. I was accepted into the Fall program but came down with a very bad case of pneumonia and had to withdraw. But I am happy to say that I was accepted for the spring term. I will be 46 when I am finished with the nursing program. Being a nurse has always been my dream but I have 3 children and decided that they came first. Now that two of them are grown and my youngest one is 15 , I am pursuing my dream. Sometime I think I have to work a little harder than my younger classmates but I have definitely hung in there. Good luck to you!!!!

Hi lalunita. They usually give a deadline for everything to be completed. We should find out all that info at orientation.

Hi logicalnonsense I will be attending the Jefferson Campus also.I took my CPR at the hoover fire station. I think it was $25. It took about 3hrs or so to complete. I don't think they mail out actual letters but we will get all the info at orientation. Hope that helps :)

@prtygyrl02 My last name starts with a Q. I was actually out running errands when my cell phone rang. I am going to be full time at the Jefferson Campus. I feel very blessed and lucky to get back in for a second chance since I had to with draw early in the fall qtr due to be ill. Orientation is on 11/29 at the Jefferson Campus @ 12:00 pm. Which campus are you hoping to attend?

Well I think it can change from one quarter to the next. I have heard that for the fall it was around one 186 (but that is just what I heard) I think it really depends on what scores everyone applies with so don't give up yet. I was accepted for the fall quarter and due to illness had to withdraw. Now I have applied for the Spring quarter and now I am waiting to see if I got back in. So this is my second time to wait! I think for the fall term it was about 5 or 6 weeks after the deadline before we knew. So it could be a while longer. Good Luck :)

Hi Mellisa. I hated to have to withdraw but it is a very fast paced program and I felt like that with what I missed I was not off to a great start. Yes there is A LOT of reading and studying. For the fall qtr it was about 6 weeks before we knew if we were accepted or not. and I believe the cutoff was at around 186 (but not sure). Good Luck to you!!!!

Hi I just reapplied to the Rn Program. I was accepted for the fall term and had started the program. I had been sick for several weeks and then came down with pneumonia and missed alot of important things from class. After making the decision to withdraw because of sickness i was told to reapply for the Spring term. I was going to the Shelby campus but decided I would accept a slot at either campus if offered one. I applied with 207.5 points.

Has anyone one from the day time program completed the take home drug calculations packet? I have done most of mine, still trying to finish up just a few more. Just wondering how everyone is doing on theirs. :) Only 9 more days until the first day of class!!!!

@BamaRnStudent I believe I heard them say at orientation that we do not need the purple ones until 2nd semester.So I do not think we have to order them now.

I know that is a great price! on the price list that we got at orientation it has a total price of $ 275. So it saved a lot!!! Have anyone started on the calculations sheet that they gave us?

Hey teejazzy the ISBN # is 978-0323098809. You get all three for 148.66. On amazon for them all separate it is around $200 and that includes the free study guide and checklist I don't remember them naming any specific hospitals that we will be going to.

teejazzy I found the fundamentals of nursing text with the skills disc and a free fundamental of nursing clinical companion book for $148.66. The book text book alone at Jeff State is $115. I am looking for the ISBN

hey teejazzy They told us they were not setting a limit but I have spent so much I wonder if we buy one now can we get one later (like when I get my grant money) I may have to call and ask.

Lol I know what you mean tvmoore5. I tried on the regular uniform and know what sizes I need in that one but I am wondering if the nano will fit any different. I might call the customer service and ask. I wish I could have tried one of those on as well. I just ordered all of my books off of amazon for a little over $500 and that included the skills 3.0 disc that we will need. I am sure that the fed ex/ups person is going to love me after delivering all those books lol. But my bank account is screaming at me to stop also!!!!

Has anyone ordered their uniform from Meridy's yet? I have been looking at the website trying to decide which one to get. I think I tried on the poplin one because i remember it was kinda see through. Does it matter if we order that one or the nano kind. trying to figure out which one will fit my budget!!! Have ya'll decided which one you are going with? So much to do!!!!!

Hi tvmoore5 I am feeling just a bit overwhelmed also. I was wondering about ordering the books online. Cause I really need to get them for the least amount as possible. I remember in orientation them saying something about cd's that go along with the some of the books. If I remember right she said that we would use them on doing assignments. Did the books you ordered also come with the cd's? If they do I am going to try and buy them online. Thanks for any info!

@ teejazzy Our orientation is at 1:00 pm. I work at a summer day care program and one of the girls in my class mom got into the night program at the Shelby campus. So she will be in your classes I am going to see what they say about books tomorrow, and then check around online again. @CNA2RN13 I have always been told that financial aid will not pay for any classes not required for your major. I had only one pre req left to take this summer and thought abought taking medical terminology to be at least part time. But financial aid told me that they would not pay for the class since it is not one of the required courses for the nursing program. So I dropped it. Hope that helps. :)

Yes teejazzy it is getting closer. I will so glad to finally find out all the info esp. about the books. That is what I am most worried about. I have been trying to price them on different websites. But I think I read on here that they give you a list that breaks down each semester and what books you will need. I know on the bookstore website the bundle of new books for 102 is $700. That is a lot of money! But I am sure I can figure something out. I know I have a lot of questions for tomorrow, just hope I don't forget one lol.
