  1. Hello Jfratian...Hello Dreaming....after my long application/acceptance/COT...I needed a break from allnurses. You guys were helpful. Dreaming...how did all the travelling and settling go? My buddy that I am replacing in Pulmonary clinic (they pulled me from cathlab but the needs of the AF comes first :) is heading to Korea for short tour then Germany. He is excited and I am excited for him. He is such a great Airman...I am really really glad I got to meet him. Jfratian...what is the next base you would like to head to? On another note...I got an email today informing me that I am heading to AEPS in San Antonio unless I turn it down....I had no clue what AEPS is and still not sure how to prep for it...if I even need to...any idea?
  2. Free2live... Thank u. What r u doing in Keesler.
  3. Got this online from someone that had done COT. A reminder just in case. Insider's Guide to USAF COT: Things you will need - Aspiring Doctors
  4. just black and no other color?
  5. I glad for that response on hangers bc I have 2 types of white hangers that I had planned to carry with me. I got a question regarding PT shorts....they are really short! Do they let people wear "skin-tights" with them? and so do they care if the skin-tights are longer or shorter than the PT shorts?
  6. Thank you very much. You have really helped ease plenty of my anxiety about this whole thing. I tell myself it is only 5 wks...others have it longer and tougher. So I think this is what I will do on reporting day. I will have my file with me that has every important documents (I have an appointment tomorrow at Maxwell to add my family into DEERS and also get ID for my wife and I) and I will be pulling my luggage case and carrying on my back my duffel bag. I have been to Maxwell around OTS/COT area...the distance did not seem too far, at least to the eye driving around the area. When we are given a chance to go to our cars. I will then get clothes that I intend to hang like the mess dress blah blah blah
  7. what's the deal about drinking 3 glasses of water? I tried it and all I do is start peeing in 20mins! How about that? What's my option here?
  8. So we should take our docs and back pack but leave luggage in the car bc we will have time to go fetch them?
  9. Thank so much for that info. I think the only thing that worries me now is the first week yellings that I hear is plenty there! How big was your class?
  10. Has anyone registered on the ADLS? I am having a hard time making it work on my computer. If someone has done it, I might need some help.
  11. J...thanks. Do we need the kiwi shoes polish?
  12. How can someone maintain their PT level? If Light-Outs is at 0000 and you wake up at 0430Am...when do you go to the gym? What is the worse case scenario on the baseline PT test? I will try to pass it but I dont want to break my bones trying to do a personal best and then fail to reach that level on my real PT test....does that make sense?
  13. I went to Maxwell yesterday to do my last shopping trip and alterations. I saw some people buying stuff too for our class. The alteration lady told me they are still working on mess dresses for the present class and asked me if I want to wait bc I wont wear the thing for like 3 months and worried I might lose significant weight. I had time to tour the base and really got more impatient now.
  14. I am assuming all the orders are in by now? It's now a T-a month? I am planning how I can wisely spend these remaining days. I do not know if it is wise of me to try to work until 12th? A part of me thinks I should stop sooner but then again I have always worked out after work and I get some down time at work where I can read some of the COT requirements. What are you guys doing? I went to a cycling class today and how I wish I had been doing this in the last...1 year? 6 months? 3 months? Hopefully I will not regret this too. My luggage bag is coming on Monday and I have decided I will use that with the duffel bag for my stuff-and my black back pack. One of these weekends I will raid Walmart for the big shopping. Any ideas of what not to forget while we still have a month or so?
  15. Congrats! Contacted my recruiter...out early for the weekend. So may be next week we will hear something.
  16. I just bought me a one-mug coffee maker today after reading a post here :) I wish our orders were in already! I am hesitant with making significant moves without the orders. I like the idea of reporting in a group.
  17. Anyone received their Orders yet?
  18. Morgan...I agree with jfratian. Most of the people heading to COT this year are not first-time applicants. But your speciality is "special". I am sure there are NICU nurses around here that might respond specifically to your question regarding to how long it took them from application to acceptance. I know for sure NICU nurses are needed bc the AF has NICU nurses as part of the military medical career section. About Edu...I would suggest you do what jfratian said. My chief nurse must have been sensible enough or she just assumed...rightly so...that I have no published a paper....so, she did not ask me that question as it is written but asked if I have mentored etc....
  19. jfra...do you get some free time to go to the gym at cot?
  20. Regarding regression...I always struggle on mondays with running. I feel like it takes me like 5 mins before I get in the mood of it and I rarely finish 30 mins. I know that is bc I dont work out on weekends. So I try to do intervals-treadmill on mondays.
  21. jmj...I think your recruiter is right. I know of someone else that was told the same thing by my recruiter. I might be wrong but I think they will probably use the alternates to fill any spaces that might come up. 2 years of experience in critical care is a good plus. I would start filling those forms and preparing for the process if I were you. It took almost 2 years to some of us. All the best!
  22. Congratulations for finishing COT! And thank you very much for sharing. I had a feeling 5 wks is just pushing it too much. I think I will have to work on my running. I can run 3-5 miles 2 to 3 times a week and try working on weights other days of the week and normally off on weekends. I plan to do this until May and then raise the bar thereafter. What was the most challenging thing to you at COT? How about sleeping hours? Would u advice night RNs to shift to days to prepare for COT? I worry about being sleepy during the day just bc that is how I am at the moment.
  23. August seems like forever!
