  1. I just had a few questions that I was hoping someone could answer for me. I wanted to know if anyone was offered signon bonuses or loan repayment for student loans. I would like to join but I make a lot more where I work now then I would as a military nurse. With a signon bonus or loan repayment I would be able to afford to join. Also, did you have to take any fit test? Are there any physical fitness requirements or weight requirements? Also, do they accept nurses at other times during the year besides october??? thanks so much
  2. I am currently an RN with a BSN and I spoke with a Navy recruiter today and they are almost full for RNS for this fiscal year but the new fiscal year starts in October. Is the Air Force offering sign-on bonus or student loan repayment???
  3. So I have been thinking about nursing for the Navy or Army but not sure which one. The Army seems to be giving a higher amount of money for student loan repayment. Is one easier to get in then the other? Is one better then the other? If anyone could shed some light on this topic it would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I also have no military background so this is all new to me. What is the difference between a Navy Nurse and the Navy Nurse Corps??? Or is it the same thing.
  5. OMG I have stayed in a dorm like setting in years. Tell me how that actually is??? putting a 30 girls living in one room for 5 weeks does not sound fun, brings back college memories. Is it really as bad as it sounds
  6. I also want to know if I have to do the Navy Fit test???
  7. I was wondering where you got this? I'd like to read more and see if there is anything about high blood pressure???? Thanks so much
  8. I wanted to chime in on this topic and see what happened with the person who orginally posted this. I think I am in the same boat as you. I really don't think I have asthma but my dr said I did. I never had an asthma attack and never had a PFT and no dr has every heard me wheeze (nor have I). I got a bit out of breath when I was running but I believe it was more due to being out of shape then due to asthma. In order to enlist do I have to have a phyical or get anything from my doctor or is it all done by a navy doctor??? If it is done by a navy dr then I wouldn't say anything. thanks so much
  9. Recently I have been thinking a lot about becoming a Navy Nurse. I am currently an RN with a BSN and I am not sure what that means as far as joining the Navy. I read over the qualifications on the navy nurse webpage and I am curious as to what qualifications/requirements there are that are not on this page. I have so other questions too and if anyone could answer any of these questions for me I would be very greatful. 1. Do I get to pick where I want to work? 2. Do I get to pick what department I want to work in? (I want the NICU) 3. Do I have to go to boot camp? 4. What are the health requirements? 5. I saw the fit test on the navy website. Would I need to complete this fit test? 6. Do a lot of people get turned down for this?
