I am also looking at NP jobs in NV. I am a FNP but a rookie. I was deployed overseas for the military reight after my boards and have not had a chance to practice. I was a ICU/ER RN for 10 years and am currently a AF flight nurse. I look foward to the change from DC and a rewarding career!Any help will be apreciated! Job listings, cost of living, wages, quality of life... Thanks! Kim

I am still tossing and turning on several areas but the sac area keeps coming up tops on my list.I know it is expensive but so is the area I come from (DC) and the wages are LOWER, weather sucks and the attitudes here are awful! A wonder friend told me to just MOVE and the jobs will surround you. As a nurse I am in high demand but that is not what concerns me. I need a job as an NP. A rookie to be exact. The East coast does not afford me that luxury. So off to the West I go, to find a job in a rewarding career and a Brad Pitt look-a-like!:rotfl:

Hello, I am continuing my quest for a great place to live! I need an NP job! I graduated in Dec 2001 however I never got a chance to practice because I have been serving my country as a flight nurse in the AF. I am currently overseas and hopefully this will all come to and end for me in Dec. I am moving from the DC area where an RN makes about $30-40/hr based on agency, salaried, and years of experience.I am a ICU/ER nurse for the last 10 years and my specialty is Family practice. The East coast is NOT friendly to new NP's and the starting wages are low for the cost of living. Start is 60k, average 1br apt in an area where you will not be gundowned is~ $1,000/mo. I am despirately seeking any job opportunity out West! The bottom line is: Where in AZ is a good area to live? How prevelant are the NP's being utilized? Cost of living? And the quality of life. I don't need a big city but I HAVE to be within a 15mi radius of a Starbucks and a Target/ Walmart. Any input please! Kim

Hello, Just wanted to know what it is like in Idaho as far as nursing and NP jobs? Where are the best places to live, work and PLAY? I am coming from DC and I need a change; BADLY! Kim
  5. Hello, I am also from MD (Columbia) and am looking at the same area in Cali. for the same reasons. I love the outdoors. I KNOW the housing is expensive but trust me from where we are at it isn't much difference! I am seeing that the pay is slightly higher there too. Tell me what you find! I will be interested. I am looking at NP jobs. Good luck! Kim
  6. Hi, Tell me everything out there. What the rents are like, pay scale, commutes, I guess Reno living in general. Congrats on the job!!!! Washoe online appears to be a nice place to work. Kim:rotfl:
  7. Your info was soooo great!!! I have hope. I looked online and I saw very little listings for RN's. I thought that all the nurses went to Spaokane! Can you name other hospitals? How about NP's? Is there a job market there? Is there a local online newspaper that the locals use to check out what is happening in Spokane? Thank you for your response!!! Kim
  8. Hello, How is the job market in spokane area for RN's/NP's? Where is a good place to work? Cost of living? Pay rate for experienced RN's?

I was looking at the northern area too in particular Scaramento. Tell me about that area. So many decisions to make. I guess this is good because I feel fortunate to be a part of a profession that is such high demand! Kim

Thanks! I know the cost of living is high!. I am actually moving from DC and that is an expensive area and the RN's make probably the same. Average is $28-$34/hr. But it is a gang bang area and the weather and commute sucks! Average 2br apt is ~1,000-1,300/mo. NP's make squat about 60k/yr. Tell me more about San Diego. I am such an outdoorsy person and I love warm sunny days. Who doesn't? Getting a RN job shouldn't be that hard, right? I am looking at also evolving into an NP slot soon but I will practice as an RN to get the feel of the area and company. Thanks!! Kim
  11. Ok, how about the San Diego area? What is the average pay for a RN >5yrs experience? What are some of the nice hospital out there? How about agency nursing/per diem floot pool in this area? I know NOTHING about California and I am about to make a BIG leap from the east to the west! Advise please! Kim
  12. Thanks Cheryl! Good luck on the interview! Let me know how it goes. Kim
  13. Hello, I am planing on relocating to Reno. I have been a nurse for 10years. I need to know what is the average RN salary in Reno, good agencies/ hospitals to work at. How is the NP job market there? My second option is around the Scramento, CA area. I am torn on which is the better option. I want to eventually practice as an NP. Specialty is family practice. Thanks for ANY input!! Kim
