  1. I'm new to this site and am so glad I found it, especially this "nurses with disabilities" sec. I was just diagnosed with ADHD with an Rx coming. I was just accepted into the nursing program at my university. The entrance is contingent upon passing the background check, get vaccinated, etc. As part of my physical check I had a mental eval. and that's when I was diagnosed. I was freaking out that I might be excluded from the program because of my dx and being prescribed a control substance for it. I read some of the posts and it was like reading my own experience. I'm so glad that I'm not alone !!! I don't want to take any meds though, anyone have any ideas on alternate vitamins or some other (over-the-counter) stuff? Though my Dr. really wants me to try the meds, and if they don't work then try other ones. I'm supposed to go back for a follow-on visit, amd I don't know what to do. Having ADHD, I guess, has helped me in my English classes with my "creative writting" ideas and in some of my chaotic multi-tasking abilities.
  2. I also got a B in A&PI and was also a bit discouraged. However, it got better the following semester and I got an A in A&P II. I was just accepted into the Nursing program and start this Fall. B is an easy grade to make up. You came close to a 90, you'll do better in A&PII. You might just have to revise your studying habits. Cheer up and good luck
  3. Thanks for your words of advice and encouragement. I started thinking, for a change .., more like projecting, if if should get a second opinion to refute the first doctor, etc., etc., etc. I can manage the school load ok (papers, etc.), it is just that I need to concentrate a bit harder than others. The only problem is in study group settings, no one can cath up with me at switching subjects at my lighting speeds... hence my nickname, speedy.
  4. I was just accepted into a nursing program, where I am scheduled to start this September. As you all, probably know, I am supposed to turn in a package (vaccinations, CPR, etc.) ... well, one of the categories is physical check up which included a mental health check. After visiting with a different doctor, I was diagnosed with ADHD and gave me a prescription for it. This is now part of my permanent records, which was submitted directly to my university. I am extremely anxious that this fact (diagnosis of ADHD + "Rx" for it) will automatically disqualify me from the program being that the Rx is a controlled substance. I have a 3.75 GPA, and no other health related issues. Can someone please tell me if I am over reacting, or if my anxiety is justified. I do not want to take this Rx either. Thank'U All
