  1. Thanks for your input gdnurse & smilingblueyes ! I really liked working but I too have a family and my family comes first. I am actually expecting again too but not for 6 months. The plan would be after I finish school my husband would stay home until the kids go to school. I always wanted to go to school and get an education and I have always been interested in being a nurse on the maternity ward. I have made a few attempts before to go to school but with working full time never completed. Now I can go and not have any excuses as my husband works early hours and will be home to watch our son. Thanks again for your stories they definately make me feel better after hearing all the negative input from other sites !! Tracy : ^ )
  2. Hi, I am 28 years old and my husband and I recently moved and I left my job of 7 years. I used to work in the high-tech industy in Northern Ca. Anyways, my husband put in a transfer and we moved to NV. We have one child a 14 month old boy. I have been home for almost 8 months with my son but really really want to go to school. I have been really considering going to the local community college and trying to get into the nursing program. I would love to work in Labor & Delivery if possible. My question is this.. I have seen allot of threads not necessarily from this web site but others where nurses post messages etc and it seems to be allot of nurses who say they hate their jobs or would have choosen another career. Most of the complaints were that they were handling too many patients and were working themselves into the ground. I am used to high stress work as working in the Silicon Valley in Ca was stressful and consisted of long days BUT I am a Mom now and want to be able to spend time with my family too. How many nurses like what they do and how many would of picked another career choice if they knew then what they know now ?? Thanks for your advice !
