Nurse Esthetician
Hey, I have a quick question... Can I do botox working under the supervision of a dentist? I live in NYC and have a friend of a friend who is a dentist with extra office space. I want to find a medical director before i put down the cash to take the botox class. Thanks!

Need some advice/suggestions
Hey everyone. I've posted on here a little while ago and got some good feedback so thank you for that. Since then I have gotten a job and a really sweet apt in NYC and will be moving this weekend. I have some savings but not 100% sure they will last until Feb. 6th when i start work. I am a CNA from before nursing school and wondered if anyone knew if i have to transfer my license and how to do it. Also, what would be a good temp agency for CNAs I worked for one here in CT and had a good exp. and see as i can only work for 1 month i don't want to start a new job. Plus i will be working on taking my NCLEX at the same time so don't want to work full time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!! Billy

I Need Help!!!
I just got a job interview at Cornell NYP Hospital (woo hoo!) so I need some information and/or advice from someone who knows better than I do. I'm a 24 y/o guy and I will be graduating Dec. 21st with an ASN (woo hoo!) and am looking to start in January on a Temp. Lic.. I have heard great things about NYP and want to work there but I have some questions: What am I going to need to do at the interview? I know there is a Rx Exam... am I going to have to take that at my interview? What do they offer in the way of sign-on bonus or relocation packages etc? (I live in CT now) I will probably be working nights... what can I expect for hourly pay... what should I ask for if they press me for a number? These questions may be premature but I would rather go in with more knowledge than I need than be surprised. So, if anyone who works there could you tell me their experience or if their's anyone who's applied there and decided to go somewhere else I would like your input too. Any help is greatly appriciated! Thank you!!! Bill

Gay Nurses... help!
Hey, I agree with pretty much everything people have expressed here and it's good to hear the support. I'm not sure i have all that much to add but i just thought i might tell you my way of dealing with it in case it helps. I've been out since i was 16 and so i am thoroughly out of practice at changing pronouns etc. If I am sitting with people i work with and there is some down time and we are just chatting and the subject of s/o's comes up and i mention mine i just say "oh my boyfriend and i..." or something to that effect. I think that most would agree that i am not throwing anything in their face because it is no more than any person in a heterosexual relationship would do. Sometimes people at that point get a look on thier face that would suggest they think they have never met a gay person before, in which case i'm glad to be a good example for them. :) Since most, if not all, organizations have anti-discrimination and tolerance regulations including sexual orientation i feel that i am pretty well protected... i've never had a problem. As for patients... the little old ladies love to ask me, "So, are you married." I just say something like "oh, not yet." Of course thinking to myself "because it's not legal yet" (btw CT gay marriage started today woo hoo). I no reason to tell the little old ladies that i'm gay... they seem to want so much for me to be happily married. I had one pt. ask me directly if i "liked girls"... he was psych pt. so i told him i did. With pts you have to play it by ear but you can always fall back on the standard "i would rather not discuss that since it doesn't help me care for you any better or worse" or something to that effect that they teach us in nursing school. Hope some of this was helpful... in my opinion: it's not a political thing, it's a personal thing.

Moving to Manhattan... need a job!
I know all about the city from having lived there breifly before school so know what i'm getting into but here is my problem. I live in CT right now, a 90 min train ride to Grande Central Station. I will hopefully be graduating this coming Dec. (so i have a while to think about this) and i want to move to NYC as soon as i pass my NCLEX. Problem is that i don't have any money in the bank. Does anyone have any ideas how i could get from A to B. Are there any hospitals that do a relocation stipend or something. I may end up getting a job and commuting for a month or living with friends in the city if i have to. Also, does anyone have any suggestions for what hospitals would be good for a new RN to apply. Any help/suggestions anyone can give me would be appriciated. Thanks!! Bill SN

question about ba vs. diploma restrictions
Ok, that is what i have heard a lot of but then i had some doubts because some people told me you had to have a BSN to do Flight Nursing and a couple of specialties like that. I was also told that military nurses have to have a BSN (not that i'm itching to get into the military right now though). Thank you for the reply! Billy

question about ba vs. diploma restrictions
I am in a diploma program currently and I am wondering what i will not be able to do as an RN. I have heard various things from various sources and i am hoping that some people on here might be able to give me a little bit more of a definitive answer. There is an articulation program from my school that i could look into but i really just kinda want to hit the ground running... not keep going to school. I have a lot of credits from before starting this diploma program so i may be able to get the BA quickly but again... how fast is fast enough? If anyone can help me out please let me know. Thank you! Billy [email protected]
