  1. Awesome! I will join. Looking forward to meeting you guys next week. I'll be coming after work (on BART), so sorry to not be able to help carpool. But very excited that we are only 1 month away from starting!
  2. Hey Robinson1211, Just wondering how it all turned out for you with the Wells Fargo loan. I applied, and they requested a co-signer, so I am in the process of doing that. I'm wondering if other banks are less likely to require a cosigner than wells fargo if you have good credit, or if all of them will because the amount is so high? Anyone have any insight? It's so hard to have been accepted, but to be in limbo about the funding. Thanks!
  3. Hey Robinson1211, Thanks for the info and I'm so sorry to hear you've had so much trouble with the loan approval process. Nothing about getting into nursing school has been easy so far, that's for sure! I remember something like there being a 40,000 max on the alternative loans, but I'm not sure if that's true...it certainly won't cover tuition + living expenses...
  4. Hi RachWake and Robinson1211, I live in the east bay (Castro Valley), and intend to live there while in school. Even though the BART commute is about 45 mins, and not exactly cheap, it's much less stressful and cheaper than driving, and you can always read, zone out, sleep, study on BART. My suggestion about housing would be to look into renting a room in an apartment or a house in SF in the mission district if you want to be near campus. But, keep in mind that the clincals are going to be all over the Bay Area, so living near campus will help on the class days, but there will still be commuting involved to our clinical placements. I'm so anxious to know how the schedule works, and where our placements will be... As far as the loans go, I just met with the financial aid counselor yesterday and definitely feel a little discouraged because of the state of the economy and I know getting loans is tougher than it used to be, and we have to take out so much because we don't qualify for a lot of grants and tuition is so expensive! Do you guys know what the max amount is that we can borrow for our "alternative loan"? I'm trying to make my budget, and just don't know how it's all going to work out .... Looking forward to meeting you two soon!
  5. I got the call today! I couldn't be more thrilled! See you in November ;-)
  6. No problem! Let me know if you hear any good news ;-)
  7. Email her--you can look her up on the website ( I can't post names or emails here--but her initials are AS, she is the director of Admissions). She got right back to me.
  8. I did--I just heard back from her, in fact, and she said I am in #2 position now. So...that means you must be #1, right?!?!
  9. Hi Preeti, I called yesterday and a very nice woman in the admissions office told me to contact the director of admissions, who should be back in the office now. So, i would contact her and ask your position since our counselor is on vacation. Best of luck!
  10. I asked, and she told me that they haven't heard back from everyone yet, so I expect we will hear more news in the coming weeks...here's hoping!
  11. Thanks for the update, Preeti! Did she give you an idea of how many people they have heard back from? I'm just wondering if there were only 6 people who turned down their acceptance, or they just haven't reached everyone yet who hasn't sent in their deposits....
  12. I'd be curious to know how many people on the waiting list confirmed that they will stay on it too, but am even more curious to know how many people didn't turn in their deposit!
  13. Thanks for the update, Preeti. So, if I understand correctly, the letters of intent + $350 deposit for those who have been accepted are due on 7/6, so hopefully that means we will hear some good news over the next several weeks/month (s)....?
  14. Also, did everyone get a confirmation letter to sign and mail back to confirm that you want to remain on the waiting list?
