  1. thanks eric! how long have you been working in MD Anderson? and in what floor? i really hope i would be able to hear from your hospital again.
  2. my family relocated here from another state and I was very optimistic that i will be able to secure a job at one of the hospitals in the Medical Center (Houston). Before I relocated i submitted my resume online to Methodist, MD Anderson, Memorial Hermann and St. Lukes. Recruiters from Methodist and MD Anderson called me back and stated that they will submit my resume to the nursing managers. This was 3 days ago and I haven't heard anything from them again St. Luke's recruiter asked me to do an online survey test (it's like a personality test) but she told me that after completing the test, I'm not fit to work there at this time but i can reapply in a year again. Then this morning, i followed up my appointment with Hermann, i was interviewed by a nurse manager there but the recruiter told me that the manager said that i'm a good nurse but she thinks my experience is not enough. I was a tele nurse (for 11 months) and i was applying for a tele positon . Right now, i'm just disappointed ,frustrated. It's just that I'm thinking now that my chances of getting a job at the medical center is getting slimmer. I'm also depressed because it's the first time i experienced having an interview and then being turned down. oh well, i guess this is just life..
  3. hi pkapple, the nurse manager changed my rotation without talking to me first...this is what i didn't like. regarding the charge nurse, i will also tackle this issue with her when i come back to work. thanks!
  4. hi classicdame, this charge nurse is going with me to the other rotation as what i've posted earlier , so imagine, . there were few instances where i want to answer back to that charge nurse but out of respect (because she's old already),i just don't say a thing. see, this is one of the major reasons why i'm fuming mad , instead of me having a break from this charge nurse (because she will be transferred to the other rotation), what the nurse manager did was to transfer me also to that rotation ,unfortunately, with HER (the charge nurse)!!
  5. thanks feldner, what she also told me was that she cannot move the other two nurses because of seniority and the other two nurses as well because they are new. but you know what, this reasoning ,i can't accept because prior to this incident, she already moved a new nurse to that other rotation because of manpower issue also. i'm psyching myself now , i know i won't last in that floor with this kind of manager..no wonder our floor is very notorious.
  6. smiles04, yes i am full time in this rotation, that's why im so affected by what she did. it's not in our policies and procedures about consulting us first before changing our schedule but still, i have a life of my own, my family h as established a routine from m y work and a change like this will not work for us...
  7. pearl thanks for the reply. this is what my husband also told me... the bottom line is productivity, i know, deep in myself ,that i won't be able to function properly if the nurse manager will insist on me going to the other rotation
  8. thanks for replying dutchgirlrn!talking to my nurse manager the first time i come back to work is the first thing i will do. you know what, i'm really not the confrontational type of person, i just keep mum about something if i still have the patience. but this time is very diffferent, BIG time different! it's time for me to speak up about this issue (regarding the charge nurse's issue, i told one of the associate nurse managers about her before). it will be hard for me since ,just like what i said, i'm not used to this, but i have to, for the sake of my well being. i can't work like this...
  9. Today i got a call from my nurse manager, she said, that she has changed my rotation. The reason being, there's not enough manpower at that rotation. After hearing that i got annoyed, i mean, she did not even bother consulting me. And to add insult to injury, the charge nurse that i really hate is moving with me. I hate him/her because he/she is very unhelpful, unprofessional and overbearing most of the time. Everyday before I get to work the mere thought of seeing him/her pushes my stress level really really high. And even other nurses who unluckily gets floated at our floor say the same thing. Next week, when I report for work I intend to talk to my nurse manager, question is what should I say? If you were in my shoes what you do? Am I being non-team-player?
  10. Hi suzanne4! that's good! because they were really helpful in my review =) JuliaRN
  11. Hi Suzanne4, Yes, we are still required to go thru the Credentials Verification (by CGFNS). Regarding the books that I used for review, they are the following: 1) MOSBY Comprehensive review (CD) 2) Lippincott Book (with practice questions on CD) 3) Saunders and Kaplan CDs (practice questions- these were generously given to me by a friend) I studied for 3 months , mostly the first month was consumed reading the Mosby Cd and the 2nd month , i tried to answer the Lippincott book and CD. DUring the last month, i just answered the saunders and kaplan cds =) JuliaRN
  12. Hi SUzanne, Thanks for replying to my posts! Here in Florida, foreign nurses like me can sit for an NCLEX-RN without taking cgfns. I guess Florida is one of those states that allow this. I have an L2 visa (dependent of L1 visa holder) and I already have my SSN and EAD so i can work here in US legally. I'm just hoping that an agency/hospital will petition us for adjustment of our status to permanent residency. Thanks! JuliaRN
  13. Hi suzanne4, I'm planning to schedule my english exam (IELTS) this may 15. As soon as I pass it, I wil lthen proceed to start processing my VisaScreen. Right now, i live here in Miami,Florida and i intend to practice nursing here also. JuliaRN PS i'm excited because i will have my first interview at a hospital this friday..wish me luck! If they hire me, i hope they will also adjust my status to permanent residency :)
  14. Hi everyone! I just passed NCLEX-RN last April 7 and right now, i'm in the process of looking for jobs. My only concern is , is it possible for me to get a job without hospital experience? I graduated BSN more than 5 years ago and since then, i didn't work as a nurse. I'm also a foreign educated nurse and i'm looking for a hospital or agency who can petition us for greencard. Do you think it's possible for me? JuiliaRN
  15. ----ione, that's exactlt what i felt (i must have answered those questions incorrectly) when the computer shutoff at 75. but i didn't know that i will have the surprise of my life when i checked the results online :) let's just wait for your turn to find it out :) goodluck! JuliaRN
