  1. I have been searching this forum for awhile looking for information on the 520 hours needed to obtain a furnishing number in CA. My real question is what did this time period look like for you? Were you working in a practice, seeing patients and then the physician would come in and prescribe a drug if necessary? How closely supervised are you during this 6 month period after your basic orientation is done? Any info would be great. I have all the documents from the brn website as well, but they don't get into the specifics of what this "supervised" time looks like prior to having a furnishing number. I assume when they talk about physician supervision being within telephone contact that they mean after you are practicing solo with a furnishing and DEA number. Thanks in advance for any help!
  2. MistieFNP, CONGRATULATIONS!! I just saw your message to me..way too late. So glad you passed!! Finally over..what a relief huh?
  3. Same for me...still getting 70 percent on average... Congrats LizRN....and Mistie good luck...can't wait to hear that you passed as well!!
  4. Good Luck!! MistieRN I did the same thing...my original date was the 11th. I passed today but can honestly say I don't even know how....it was not what I expected at all. I would say that it all the concepts in the Fitzgerald Review and Leik book but you have to know the little details of every disease....the questions are so random...definitely not the obvious stuff. If I had a pointer it would be to study by diseases and know each presentation, diagnostic tests, treatment and pharmacology. Problem is more than half of what you study won't even be on the exam. I imagine everyone's tests are so different you just gotta study it all. So I freaked out and moved my test back...but I did get to the point that LizRN is at and just had to get it over with...the extra time will give you the confidence you need and then you will do fine!! Good luck!!
  5. LizRN and Mistie....and anyone else who is sitting this week for the exam...GOOD LUCK!! I take mine tomorrow...am nervous but ready to get it over with....wish me luck!
  6. Mistie, How many hours a day are you studying? What day do you take your test?
  7. Wondering how the job market is looking for you? Where do you search for open positions? I am sure this varies by state (I am in California) but I would be curious to hear how things are looking throughout the United States as well as CA. So far my impression is that jobs are limited and it is difficult to find an MD who is willing to supervise the 520 hours needed to obtain a furnishing number. Anyone else having a different experience?
  8. Mistie, I could have written your email as myself...it is exactly what I have done...how I am scoring and I take my test in less than 2 weeks as well (21st)....I would also appreciate any insight on this...good luck to you!!!
  9. Congratualations...praying for the same...take mine the 21st.
  10. I am wondering how you all scored on your practice tests and still passed the AANP. I am studying the Fitzgerald review book (took the live seminar as well) and the Leik reveiw book. I am scoring higher on the Leik exams (around mid 70's-80%) and about mid 60's-70 percent on the Fitzgerald questions. I have almost two weeks left and am still plugging away at the questions in both books but am feeling the pressure of time and getting a little nervous. I also purchased the Fitzgerald online reveiw questions and have been saving them to really see how I would score on an exam...does anyone else recommmend other practice tests that are representative of the exam? Thanks for any advice!
  11. I would have to say my turn around was much longer...I sent in application and all requirements in November 2009 and got my letter to test end of February...almost 4 months.
