  1. Hi everyone! I was thinking about taking all three nursing courses this winter term? Has anyone done this and what are your thoughts about this? I am admitted to Fall 2011 class and was thinking I just want to get the work over with and that maybe I will be selected to move up to May 2011.
  2. kvisintine , for orgainic chemistry i would recommend you take professor ----- at oakland university. i too was afraid of this subject and struggled with another professor and dropped the course. i found him to be the best professor i have ever had. he's hilarious and explains things over and over again in very simple terms. he was great. i hated to miss any of his classes as he was so entertaining.
  3. Hi Danigiril10, I too have to take all three nursing courses and was wondering if I should take them all during the winter term and online or not. Does anyone who has taken them have any recommendations and professor suggestions. Also, in the letter it infers you can take them elsewhere. I thought you had to take the courses at OU? Best wishes for those still waiting......hoping for the best for you!
  4. Evansmom, CONGRATS!!!!!! I am so very happy for you. Enjoy the good feelings.....I know it's hard to even process the acceptance.
  5. Hi Everyone, I have a thought that may help you worry less. I may have got my acceptance letter early because I complained about not getting in last time for several reasons. Maybe I was on their list to let in first. This is just a wild guess as I have not heard of anyone else getting in yet. I'm rooting for you!
  6. Fall 2011(September 2011) and the $150 deposit is due 12/15/10. The letter was postmarked 11/30/10. Thank you everyone and I hope for good news for all.
  7. The second interview went so much better as I felt that the one interviewer I had was more focused and took me seriously, as opposed to the two women I interviewed with last time.
  8. Thank you so much Evansmom. It's been such a long road to this point I don't even know how to react but I'm trying to enjoy it. Once again, best of luck to you and everyone else that are waiting as I know how hard it is.
  9. Hi Everyone, Well I got my early morning mail delivery and I got a congratulations letter saying I have been conditionally admitted dependent on the successful completion of the remaining required 3 nursing courses. I was denied last round so I am so relieved and happy right now. Best of luck to everyone else and I hope you all get great news!
  10. Hi All, I had my interiew last week with one person and it went much better this time. Your undergraduage GPA does matter according to the person I interviewed with, in fact she brought it up that I had a 2.9 GPA in my undergrade degree. I told her that my 2.9 was from U of M Business School which is a selective program and that they curve the grades(a forced curve where someone has to get a E,D,C,B, A) and that I completed the program one semester early and worked part-time. I shared with her I was uncomfortable having to defend my undergrade grades and that you need to look at the school the person went to and other factors and successes you've had after your undergraduate degree. She agreed and said that the longer it has been since your degree the less importance the actual grades should be. She also said she does not make the final decison and that she would recommend me. I'm already looking in the mail every day hoping to get a response. I have applied to UofDMercy but need to take several more classes for them. I even applied to Oklahoma City U. and was accepted for Jan 2011 but I did only as a backup and really cannot afford the tuition/living expenses to do it. It's about $70K for their 16 month program. I found them through researching what accel. programs accept most students. They are able to do so because of their high tuition costs that prevent most students from being able to do the program. I was told Schoolcraft's waitlist is now 5 years. Good luck everyone and I'll post as soon as I hear anything.
  11. Hi all who reapplied, I was wondering if anyone knows how many students have applied for this cohort or if they get more or fewer applications at this time of year. I was trying to determine if the odds of getting accepted are better this time of year. Thanks all.
  12. I got the same letter in the mail today and no I have not been asked to interview yet.
  13. If anyone has the financial ability and can relocate for 16 months Oklahoma City University accepts everyone (assuming you have the prereqs.) You can start as early as Jan 2011 but the downside is the cost of about $60,000. They do have some scholarships to help offset the high private school tuition. Contact nursing coordinator for more infomation.
  14. I asked but was not told anything about when they will be interviewing next.
  15. I got it verbally from my advisor. She said if I wanted to redo my goal statement it was due Sept. 15th.
  16. I think we have until Sept. 15th to reapply.
  17. Hi all. Is anyone else taking the NUR220 or NUR227 courses this fall? I was thinking it would help on getting in. Your thoughts??
  18. To Adamsmami or anyone else who got excepted: Do you have any tips or input on what to include in your goal statement? I too found the interview very unprofessional as the two ladies who interviewed me joked through the entire interview. They joked about everything from their matching Easter colored outfits to the fact that I wouldn't be the only "older" student in the class to what was I planning on doing with my daughter while I was in school. They to led me on like I was going to be accepted like my advisor and I felt they used me for their humor that day. Like others who have posted I would have gotten on a wait-list at Schoolcraft over 1 1/2 years ago for their tradional program would I have none it was not possible to get into any 2nd degree programs. It's ironic that a program called 2nd degree should focus on excluding those who truly need/want a second degree. Anyway, I am trying to decide on whether to take the three Nursing school courses in hopes of that making me look better for the next time I reapply. I'm at Schoolcraft this morning attempting to get on their waitlist for their regular nursing program and I am told it now has a 5 year waiting list. Does anyone know of a school you can get into anywhere else in the country. At this point I would entertain going anywhere if I can start soon. Take care everyone. A tip for those needing to take Microbio. or A&P try ---- for hybrid courses at Schoolcraft. I got 4.0's and really enjoyed the classes. Do not take A&P w/----- at OU, the worst professor I have ever experienced.
  19. Hi All, WellI'm processing my rejection and now was wondering if anyone knows of a program with similiar prereqs. that I can apply to. U of D Mercy looks like more prereqs.. Thanks all and I'm sorry for everyone else you got the form letter.
  20. I just got my letter rejecting me and I am so ****** and shocked. I spent the last 1 3/4 years working toward the prerequistes and met w/the advisor numerous times and was told I would be a good fit for the school and should get in. I've spent the past 13 years doing various volunteer work with medical mission groups, fundraising, and patient care. I don't have a back up and am sick to my stomach. I don't know what I am going to do now.
  21. I am so very sorry Ebledsoe. I have not received anything in today's mail and have gone this past week from eating everything in sight to having no appetite at all. May I ask if your advisor was at all positive on you getting in. My advisor never even mentioned that I may not get in so I assumed that the interview was mostly a formality. It looks like I was so wrong in my thinking. Best of luck.
  22. Hey AdamsMaMe, May I ask if the initials of the advisor that is no longer with the school K.W.? I've left a few messages and have not heard back. Thanks.
  23. ebledsoe, I interviewed July 15th and have not received a response so hang in there. Hopefully we will all get good news soon. :)
  24. Nothing in the mail for me today. I emailed the assistant a few weeks ago and she replied that letters would go out at the end of August. I may need a nurse if this goes on much longer. I'll check out the Dream Cruise this weekend and try to relax.
  25. Nothing in the mail for me yesterday. I applied to U of M Ann Arbor in Feb. of this year and had the absolute worst experience. They kept failing to get/find/enter in my transcripts in their system after having them mailed twice and then hand-delivering them to the undergraduate office in snow storm no less. Finally in May they acknowledged my transcripts were not complete and that they would look at my application and call me back personally. Friends from classes I was taking at Schoolcraft told me their rejection letters indicated that all of the spots were filled at that time. I got a rejection letter a week later (no personal call) and when I followed up was told my transcripts were not complete. My OU advisor seemed to be very positive about me getting in and I am now becoming concerned after reading everyones posts combined with the fact that I interviewed on 7/15. Best of luck today to all!
