  1. @katiedr, hey!!! nice seeing you on here! It was very nice to meet you! @mewinton, nice to have you on here! Join our facebook group, I'll be posting some info on the stuff us transfers will be needing to complete before the fall! The link doesn't work, so you can search us on facebook: UMHB Nursing Class of Fall 2015
  2. I also started a Facebook group since our class does not have one yet! I think this is a better way for all of us to get to know each other and a great way for us to study and help each other as well! :) facebook.com/groups/587882454569367
  3. These prices are based on one semester... it's a lot more to live on campus. They gave me an estimate of ~6000 more per year. My financial aid could not help cover it all. So, I think it's a better idea to live off campus.
  4. This is for if you are living on campus, in the apartments. (You can't stay in the dorms if you are over 21, I believe) Huckins Apartments 1 bedroom / 1 bath (Shared BR) $ 2,275 Independence Village Apartments 2 bedroom / 1 bath (Private BR) $ 3,320 2 bedroom / 2 bath (Shared BR) $ 2,490 Farris Hall 2 bedroom / 2 bath (Private BR/BA) $ 3,520 3 bedroom / 3 bath (Private BR/BA) $ 3,320 4 bedroom / 4 bath (Private BR/BA) $ 3,140 I will be putting a deposit down to hold an apartment. I found out today, that the availability will be very little and there is already a waiting list. I will be putting it down for Turtle Creek since it is closer to the school, cheapest option, and it is a safer neighborhood (other complexes are income based and are not as safe).
  5. I just looked at apartments today. I'm trying to decide if living off campus or on campus is a good idea.
  6. @acadena I actually did really well on the PSB, but still didn't get in
  7. Nice to meet you, Jessica! I'm looking forward to meeting you guys on the 24th! I will be in Belton allllll day. I'm also getting my mac checked by the IT department to see if it meets the requirements for computers. Ariel: CCCC is WEIRD, they look for very specific requirements. One of my professors told me that they also take into consideration if you've taken all of your classes at their school, in other words, if you've invested more into their school.
  8. Hi Ariel! My name's Tina. I've applied to Texas State and Collin College and UMHB, not many schools But YES, the schools in Dallas are sooooo competitive because of the high volume of applicants! I will be in Belton on the 24th for orientation, I'm going to look at apartments and stuff too. I'm most likely going to need to find a roommate or something because of my budget!
  9. Oh cool!! I actually recently moved to Dallas from Austin back in December! I guess I'm moving again! I've looked at housing in Belton and it seems cheaper to get a roommate and live in Temple. Killeen is too far of a drive. BUT anything would be cheaper than Austin... I sure do miss it though!
  10. Where are you guys coming from? I'm moving down to Belton from Dallas. I'm currently looking for housing and I can't wait to meet you all at orientation!!!!
  11. Greetings Everyone!! I noticed no one has started a UMHB Fall 2013 thread yet, so here I go! I got my acceptance letter yesterday and I am totally stoked!! I am wondering if anyone else got in! I would love to meet any future classmates! ^_^
  12. Anyone get anything yet?? I took my break early from work so I could sit here and check. I've got nothing so far o_O
  13. Yup!!! I'm totally dreading this wait. My heart constantly feels like its going to jump out of my chest! I have work today, how am I going to function without finding out first!!! Thanks iheartnrsng! I hope we all get in!!!!!!
  14. Last year, I got my rejection at 5pm on the second Friday of March. I think they send the Out at around 5.
  15. I've been checking my email like a crazy person. This week has been awful!!! The wait is killing me. I've been stalking this thread for a while. This is my second time applying to the St. David's SON and I have fixed all my grades While I've been waiting. Good luck to everyone.
  16. By the way, @texas_t, they don't look at overall GPA, they look at the overall pre reqs. I have no idea what my pre-req only GPA is. I've taken a lot of classes because I was a pre-PT major so some of those classes brought my gpa down.
  17. My science is a 3.56 and a 3.38 for overall as well. ****** said that all 100 spots in the program have been filled and that they are only looking for alternate spots for rolling admissions. I'm just hoping for an alternate spot because some that DO get accepted might not go to Texas state if they get accepted into a better program elsewhere, that's where alternates come in. Good luck to you!!
  18. Thanks Katie. The school actually came on here and POSTED. I feel like its way too much. I am considering the adn bridge to BSN. I hope that doesn't hurt me if I decide to go for an msn.
  19. I think that's what I'll do. What sucks is that I have EVERYTHING done as in pre reqs. The adn program doesn't even need all of those classes. I would do the bridge though if I go the adn route.
  20. The minimum is 2.5 and 3.0 science. You have to make an 80 or higher on the reading portion of your teas v for them to even look at your grades and stuff. I think people were applying at 3.5 gpa and higher. Im more worried about TWU and uta because their students are applying at 3.7+ As for classes you are allowed (I think) 18 hours total left before starting nursing school. You have to get it done prior to the start date. I spoke with the SON advisor, ******, when I went to go turn in my app, she said they've already filled 100 spots but are accepting rolling admissions for alternate spots only. She told me not to get my hopes up too much. Good luck to you too.
  21. @classicdame I would LOVE to get accepted into UT, but everyone around here knows getting into UT nursing program is like winning the lottery!!! Weel, for me getting in IS winning the lottery! I just feel a lot of people are going to have a much higher GPA getting in.
  22. Thank you for your feedback. I'm still waiting on Texas state to respond to me. Earlier in March I already got the "regret to inform you..." letter so now I feel like I am desperate! If I don't get in to the BSN program, I would probably just do the ADN to BSN program. This shouldn't affect me if I decide to get a masters in the future I hope... Again, thanks for your response, it did make me feel a lot better. :loveya:
  23. Stephalump: thanks a lot! I think after a few hours, I was thinking it through and I told myself I will only accept getting in to a university... I've looked through the forum and it seems that ADN's in my area aren't having much luck getting hired... I messed up my first 2 years in school, I didn't know what I wanted to do yet, I come from a very strict family and I sort of went nuts when I moved out. The last 2 years I've been playing "catch-up" and I've never worked so hard in my life to make good grades. I have debilitating migraines too and have lost 3 semesters worth of classes because I literally could not leave my closet... hopefully I can get in. I know I am ready for this. Thanks for your comment again.
  24. I have applied for rolling admissions for Texas State in Round Rock, TX... They let you know by June 22 if you're in or you're out. I know that they only accept 100 total students for their program so I'm not even sure how spots are left for rolling admissions! I'm freaking out and scared out of my mind but still trying to keep my hopes up... I've constructed a back up plan if I cannot get into a university, I would try to get my ADN at a community college (brookhaven) first then get my RN to BSN through online at UTA or something. another backup is West Coast University.. They just opened one in Dallas and school started this spring for them. My main concern is their accreditation is ACICS, I'm not familiar with that one but I haven't heard many good things about it... What do you guys think? also: the $$$$, apparently it's $130,000 to be in their program from start to finish, but I've already got all my prereqs done so that cuts out one year, so for me it would be roughly $86,000. Anyone have any information on this school? I tried talking to the advisor but she kept pushing me to attend the information sessions and didn't answer my questions straightforwardly. I want this so bad, I know this is what I am meant to do... I just feel like I'm gonna fall...
  25. Wow guys!! Congratulations on getting accepted!!! I unfortunately did not make the cut... So I am reapplying for rolling admissions!! I think I spent half the day crying when I got the rejection letter. It's been horrifying. Now I gotta wait some more.
