  1. I just saw her reviews on Rate my Professor....This is going to be a long semester
  2. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!!
  3. You break for summer. 4 Semesters = January - May, August - December, January - May, August to December. USF's program is year round for the RN-BSN program...
  4. Great to meet you See you guys bright and early!
  5. It was great meeting you! Get some rest!
  6. Ok am I here alone? Lol
  7. I believe clinicals are 10 hours: So maybe 6-4, 7-5, or 8-6....
  8. Woohoo I got DM N/W!!! Anything else would of been a no go....Can't wait to meet up tomorrow to celebrate!
  9. Congratulations!!! I've been rejected from HCC twice and I guess 3rd times the charm! Wishing you much luck in your journey!!
  10. I may arrive a bit late (what else is new?) as I have to pick up the heathen from the babysitter's and wait for Hubby to take over. Can't wait to meet everyone and Handsome Felix reminds me of Jason Statham's character Handsome Rob from the Italian Job (swoon ). See you all next week!
  11. I live in Tampa near the Zoo. Monday and Wednesday are Mommy's Night Out days so either one is perfect. Barnes and Nobles has a Starbucks in every location I think...There are Carrollwood, Brandon, Clearwater and South Tampa locations to choose from.
  12. Thanks so much for your insight. I have 2 kids at home (23 month old and my hubby ) and I work full-time and plan on juggling all of this as far into nursing as I can go. I've been going crazy wondering how I'm going to continue working and being a mom/wife. Also I'm down for Starbucks next week :)
  13. Err!! I thought these replies would post to the comments I "thought" I was replying to...
  14. Thank you I really appreciate the love from my fellow future Nurses!
  15. Thank you! I think my application process was just short of stalking
  16. I'm in!!!! 3rd times a charm! I forgot to check the mail Wednesday and was on here yesterday biting my nails reading that the alternate letters went out. I got home and opened the mailbox to see a letter from HCC! I thought I was going to pass out from the anxiety! LOL! I'm so excited to be amongst you all! Can't wait until JANUARY! I have a friend in the LPN-RN program now so I get a bit of insight from her. She said it's madness but worth it! Congrats to all. I will be celebrating this weekend!
  17. I'm an ALTERNATE!!! Finally after my 3rd time applying! Even though it is not guaranteed at least there is still a possibility that I can get it. It is far better than a rejection. So to all that got accepted and got chosen as an alternate, congratulations!!! To everyone else, if this is really what you want to do, please don't give up. I'm not out of the woods yet but...I'm thinking positive from here on out. Wish me luck :)
  18. I understand you completely. I've been a student at HCC for 10 years. I was originally an Art major and obtained my AA at HCC and also an AS at a private school. I've always wanted to be a nurse but decided to pursue Art because I didn't feel I was mature enough at the time to handle nursing. Here we are 10 years later and the mistakes I made my first years in college are back to haunt me lol, at least GPA wise. I have 80-something credits at HCC from pursing Art and Nursing. My overall GPA is just under a 3.0 and my pre-req GPA is 3.47. This has created an issue with trying to apply at other schools. UT requires a 3.5 GPA and USF a 3.65 for transfer students. Even if I took Statistics and Ethics (both additional pre-reqs for USF/SPC/UT ) and aced them both I would still end up with around 3.5 at the most...it's frustrating that I'm so limited in schools. I really am thinking about doing Pediatric Oncology. My mom has done adult oncology nursing for over 20 years and it's just something that I've always gravitated towards. We'll see, being a mother now may change my perspective on being around sick children. If HCC doesn't accept me this time around I'm going to apply to Erwin and try to get in for the next available LPN program. I can't keep wasting 9 months at a time applying over and over. I had a friend just get in for the HCC bridge program and she loves it. I get some insight from her every now and then. It's great that you are weighing your options and providing yourself with multiple back-up plans. Hopefully we all get the answer we want soon.
  19. Ughh this is driving me crazy. This is my 3rd attempt to apply for this program. My GPA is low at 3.476. My C in Eng II 10 years ago is killing my GPA. I wish they took into account whether people had other Gen-eds to take. I heard of people dropping mid program because they couldn't handle the course load coupled with their gen-eds. I've been at HCC for 10 years (I have my AA and also an AS in different fields). I had a friend get in as an alternate for Fall 2013 who had a lower pre-req GPA than I did...Even if I tied with someone and they had a higher cumulative GPA you would think I would of still gotten in as an alternate rather than my friend...This will be my last attempt, then I'll try Erwin for my LPN and bridge over later...It's so frustrating! Good luck to everyone.
  20. The letter just stated that there were a lot of applicants with very competitive Gpas and that I would not be offered a seat at this time... And it stated my pre-req GPA at 3.476. If I were to appeal then I would have to show proof to back up my claim.
  21. She stated the letter had her Pre-req GPA at 3.281...I don't think I'm going to bother to apply to HCC for Spring...this was my second time applying since the first time I took the wrong math pre-req. I think I'm going to go ahead and pursue Keiser instead. Maybe after this confusion settles a bit I'll change my mind but it's just mind-boggling...Good Luck in the program! And thanks for your kind words
  22. Pretty confused with HCC at the moment. I got my denial letter on Saturday. I had a 3.476 pre-req GPA. My friend got an alternate seat with a 3.2 Gpa...not sure how that happened. I have all my classes complete as well...I really hope my friend does get a seat though, atleast one of us made it in. But I just can't wrap my head around it...To all the alternates and accepted, I wish you the best of luck
  23. Glad I'm not alone in this. Goodluck everyone!
  24. Well this will be my 2nd time applying. The first time I was denied because I took Math for Liberal Arts I & II and those are not equivalent to College Algebra when pursing an A.S. degree so I took College Algebra and just applied again. I have over 80 credits at HCC. My pre-req GPA is low at 3.4. I had all A's and B's except for Eng I which I took back in '03 and I got a C...that's really screwing me. Although I know I really don't have that much of a chance I'm hoping I get in anyways since I'm done with all my classes. I have heard of students dropping because they can handle the core classes courseload along with their gen eds which sucks for us with low GPAs...hopefully the nursing committee sees this and puts a change into how students are accepted instead of focusing just on GPA. Good luck everyone. Hope yo find an acceptance letter in March :)
