Hi Dana! Thank you for the response about my disability concerns and the military. I like the DMAT type of job where you can be deployed to natural disasters area and help out in that specific field. I don't have any issues performing my duties but I just hope the military doesn't see it as something that could hinder me from doing my duties. I have had my high blood pressure once I was in the military the first time but because I am taking meds daily to maintain my bp, I don't want it to be a reason as to why I would not be able to become an officer. Hello Everyone! I am currently in the ADN program at my local Junior College and also taking classes for the Accelerated BSN with the anticipated graduation date of May 2015. I am a prior enlisted Marine with a background in Information Technology. I just started my packet this week and will hopefully get the ball rolling on it ASAP. The military is definitely a small world because my recruiter is someone who I knew while I was in Afghanistan and Iraq. He told me that the best thing to do is finish the packet as soon as possible and let the military make the decisions. From the discussion I had with him today, I think the first boards is in August. (I could be wrong though).

LunahRN makes a good point. I would take the scholarship too. I just want to be part of the military again but as an officer. I'll be happy to get into any military branch as a Nurse.

Hi m4rk! I am currently in nursing school and I have been looking at my options as well to be commissioned as soon as I finish with school. I have close to one year left in my ADN program and will find it soon if I will be accepted to the accelerated BSN program in one of the 4yr State schools here in California. (which will be about 8-9 months after my ADN program till my BSN). Once I know I am accepted to the other school, I am joining one of the ROTC affiliated schools to hopefully have the "for sure" commission option to get into the Nurse Corps. I was enlisted before for 4 years with the Marines so I any option to get back into the military as an officer would be my ideal goal. Best of luck with your decision.

I think they need a course ID for that. I could be wrong, but I think our instructor has to provide us the Course ID if it's available.

I went the traditional way and purchased the textbooks. The good thing is that the e-books are also included in the purchase for the bundle.

Thank you for the textbook info. I think I might go the traditional book purchase, but then again, it is very convenient to have the text on a computer, ipad, etc...

I went to the bookstore Friday and they said that it will not be available until late July to early August. Let me know if you hear anything different.

FYI....The Syllabus for Fall 2012 is available now to download. Anyone know if they are selling the textbooks yet?

Hi Jaymelynn01! Congratulations! I did my background and drug screen last month. The instructions should still work for Fall 2012. I think the nearest for the drug screen for me was the building next to Queen of the Valley Hospital, since I live in American Canyon. I am excited to start as well, but I am making the most out of my work and vacation time this month before the nursing program starts.

Hi Erbuffnut98! It is a great feeling when you submit your packet isn't it? Plus it gives you some cushion just in case things needed to be redone. I definitely agree that this will be a great experience as well.

I thought I replied to this already, but I don't see it on this thread, so here it goes again. :-) I submitted my packet 2wks ago and I also has a question about the healthstream and it isn't due with the packet. Our instructor will let us know more about it the first/second week of class. Registrations will be done for us on June 28th or after. I would check next week on the 28th for the registrations.

Yes, indeed. Very well said. I know from previous classes, there was someone who lived at Sacramento and she commuted at least an hour and a half to Napa.

Good for you. I did my screening at Napa. I submitted my paperwork this week just in case I have anything missing or if I have to redo any of them. An hour commute...wow! I hope there will be others in the class near your area, so you can carpool.

Hi Kimber! I think everyone on here can understand how you feel. I am nervous and excited at the same time. How are you doing with all of your required paperwork? How far of a commute is Santa Rosa? I am in American Canyon, so it isn't too far.

Hi chartreuse16! It feels good to get things out of the way and make sure I have everything in early enough just in case there are things I have to get redone. I emailed about the Healthstream and we will get more info on it from our instructor the first week of class. I think I will do that after I get the proper instructions.

I have done all of my immunizations/titers, physical, BLS certification, drug/background screening. I checked over the reminder section at the NVC website and it seems like I have everything and I will be mailing it off today. However, In the immunization packet to do list, it has this HealthStream, but it isn't mentioned in the reminders section of the ADN-Nursing Fall 2012. Has anyone done the Healthstream?

The BLS class was very informative and quick. I'm glad I did that this week. I am getting all of my background and drug screening done this week also because I may be fairly busy the next month or so with my job. The nearest place for the drug screen is at Workhealth by Queen of the Valley.
