  1. I am interested in the Lawrence Memorial ASN program with the bridge to the MSN at Regis and the Simmons direct entry MSN programs. I have a non-nursing bachelor's degree and eventually would like to get an MSN, but I'm not sure which route is the best for me. I have a young child, so my concern with the Simmons program is that I would not be able to be a mom and a student in such an intense program. The LM program seems to be more geared toward older students with families. I also like the idea of being able to get my RN, then work to get some experience and then get my masters. Is there anyone who has done that with either program? About how long does the MSN at Regis take? Also, I've heard conflicting things about being hired with an ASN vs an MSN. Some people have told me that ASN's are being hired, some say they aren't. I've heard that MSNs are having problems too, due to the economy. Are there any recent graduates of either program who can share their experiences in finding a job? Thanks for any information.
  2. I am interested in hearing about any experience people have had with the direct entry masters program for case management at Samuel Merritt. Is there anyone who has been in the program or who has worked with people who have that degree? I'm interested in hearing about how well the program prepares someone without clinical experience to have the tools to navigate the case management world after graduating. Any thoughts on this specific program or direct entry case management programs in general would be appreciated. Thanks!
  3. So I'll just have to post 12 more times then I'll be able to send messages?
  4. Thanks for the response Tyler. I'm glad to hear that I should be able to transfer my classes. Taking micro again would not be very fun. I would really appreciate it if you could send me your spreadsheet.
  5. My husband and I are moving to Boston for family reasons in the next 6 months to 1 year. I am currently living in California and started taking pre-reqs for nursing schools here. I already have a bachelors degree in another field, but am changing careers. For monetary reasons, I am most interested in doing an RN program at a community college. One of the big problems with nursing schools in CA is they are so overwhelmed with applicants, that getting into an RN program at a community college on your first try is almost impossible. The schools in the bay area admit based on either a lottery system or by putting you on a wait list and letting students in as spaces open. It is not uncommon for people to be waiting to be accepted for 3-4 years. Can anyone give me an idea of how long it takes to get into an RN program in the Boston area? How many students are admitted to an average program per year? Am I looking at years of waiting and hoping that my number gets called? Also, the pre-reqs for the schools here have to be finished before you can even apply to the program, so I already have anatomy, physiology, chemistry, microbiology, etc done. Will I need to take those classes again? Can I use classes from my undergrad degree toward other general ed classes? Any info is greatly appreciated as well as thoughts on an of the programs that are especially good or bad. Thanks
