Hi, I called them today about the language portion. They were nice about helping. They say if you don't know how to read and write, just put the lowest level option there is. Also, if you lock your application, it's okay to turn in transcripts past the deadline.

Hey midwifebaby1, thanks so much!!! I feel really relieved. I thought I had sent in my transcript before, but it didn't show up under education, like my other transcripts did, so I've been worried all day. thanks a lot =) Hi junipers, yeah, I'll let you know what they say when I call Monday.

hi ftrsfnurse, thank you for the input. Unfortunately I cannot leave them blank. Also no one picked up the phone today. I will try calling them Monday about that and do some rush orders on transcripts!

1. For the language portion of the MEPN application, what happens if we only know how to speak the language, but not read and write it? Because there is no option under "reading" and "writing" where we can say we don't know how to. 2. Also is it okay to turn in transcripts after Sept 1st? Thank you in advanced!

Hi I called them about transcripts too and they told me they cannot confirm until it's locked, but assured me they would not get lost. However, I emailed them asking the same question, and they replied saying that they have received them. Maybe you can try emailing too. Gotta start working on a personal statement as well O_O

Hi everyone, I'm trying to send my GRE scores to UCSF via the GRE site. For the department code, the ucsf site says to put down Department #0610. I tried using that code, but it doesn't show up on the GRE site. Anyone experience the same thing?

Hey AdrianMPH, I also had to email all my letter writers about the inconvience. I felt bad, since I've been emailing them back and forth about LOR directions and that the letter should be by middle of June (I asked in late April already lol). Hello newcomer!

Called them today and they said the person in charge of the app site is "sick" so apps won't open until July. They don't have an exact date either...they say to just keep checking the site. Ride Reed, if you go to the MEPN site, they explain what they wants in the LORs. I think it's a good time to ask now.

Is this GRE score okay for a direct entry MSN program?
Hi, I'm planning to apply to some MEPN programs this year. I got a 500 Verbal and 620 Math. I'm debating whether to retake it or not. Any advice? Thank you in advanced.

Hi guys, How does a 500 Verbal and 620 Quantitative (total 1120)? I just took the GRE's today. I'm debating whether to retake it or not. Any opinions?

How does a 500 Verbal and 620 Quantitative (total 1120) look for an entry-level MSN program? I just took the GRE's today. I'm debating whether to retake it or not. Also do schools combine our scores or look at the higher scores?

Lammy, GRE's are required for MEPN, a 3 yr program is for people who have nonnursing bachelor's degrees. RN's would apply to a 2 yr masters program. You can look at the website for the UCSF MEPN program for details. Hope this clarifies things.

Hi everyone! I'm also applying this year. I'd like to get into the FNP program. I am also nervous about how competitive UCSF is. I'm taking GRE's end of May. I majored in Biology, with a GPA of 3.18 O_O. As an undergrad I volunteered at the hospital for 3 years, as a research assistant and a general volunteer. I graduated in 2008, and have been tutoring and also taught a biology class last year. I volunteer Network of Strength, which gives free mammograms and breast cancer education for uninsured women. I also volunteer at a clinic in a hospital, which provides free medical care to people in need. Like Megan, I don't have much experience in this specific field, but I am also hoping to shadow an NP sometime in the near future. I also need to take microbio as a requirement. Megan, I don't know the averages, but I went to the info session earlier this week. According to the recruitment officer Asha Reed, UCSF favors scores above a 580 in each section of the GRE. They still accept score that are a little lower. GPA must be above a 3.0. I've never heard about NP's until end of 2008 when I got a new doctor. The doctor never said hi and always tries push me out the door asap, whereas the NP at her office always takes her time, explains everything to me, and is much more personable. That's when I started researching more about it. I haven't really looked into the other programs yet, but I hear Yale, JHU, Columbia, Uni of HA have similar prereqs. Planning to look into that. Hope to keep in touch with people here. Definitely a great place for support! GL =D
