  1. Thank you!! I'm so happy.. I feel so relieved. Now I gotta focus on becoming a RN.
  2. I used NCLEX mastery pn... I had ATI as part of the program so I did almost all of the practice exams. Which were alot. And then my program had 2 nclex predictors and a live review from the NLN... I also had a study guide one of my professors made. I didn't do much in terms of outside material because I simply couldn't afford it... I just got my results a few hours ago and I passed!! Thank god! Next up RN...
  3. 104 questions faints, I was confident in the beginning and then it got super hard. Alot of select all that apply for me, alot of diabetes (so I think I was getting those wrong) 1 math (it was a i/o) 5 pharm questions. Omg I can't wait to find out if I passed.
  4. Got it JustBeachyNurse I appreciate it!
  5. Sorry maybe I needed to be more specific. I Google and found those but I was curious as to what constitutes if it was approved or not? There are quite a few of them and I didn't want to waste money by buying one that wasn't approved.
  6. I keep seeing job posts that would like applicates with an "approved" IV therapy course. Where can I find if a course is approved or not. I'm in the Orlando, FL area. Thanks.
  7. I took my nclex predictor last week. I did very well. I'm submitting my application today and class ends for me on the 21st witb graduation on the 28th.
  8. @beautifulstar I have not but I did take a pre licensure readiness exam from the NLN and did pretty good. It was like if I had taken the nclex that day I would have passed. We have a NLN live review on 11/3 and 11/4 so I hope to take it shortly after that.
  9. @Nathifalr26 if you don't mind me asking what other school re you looking it? I live next door to Valencia and I wanted to try to get it but I didn't have any other backups except Polk State in winter garden.
  10. Yes I had my run ins with I was told this during my meetings and once I started it was nothing like I was told. If you want to see if a school is truly accredited check the florida board of nursing website. It's a half truth half lie kind of game and if you don't peep it you go for it. Cambridge has accreditation from some other places but not NLN or CCNE which is needed if you plan to move on. It happened to me I was told my lpn credits would transfer to the CC and guess what they dont, the CC accepts the LPN License itself. I started January 2014 and first set of clinicals began sept 2014. However there were a few courses after that where we would have lecture for like 2 weeks and then go back to clinicals. Also I started with a class of 11, it me and another girl from the original class and then 2 drop ins (someone who failed or left and had to retake the course) so it's a totally of 4 of us. We actually tweeked our schedule some classes with the director of nursing approval. I'm in OB clinicals right now and guess what? we don't have a clinical site so we are at the school 2 nights and saturdays doing book work. The manniquin that's in the lab is broken so it doesn't simulate birth anymore so we are watching youtube videos. End of this month until 10/21 I'm in pediatric clinicals thank god we have a site but it's only on saturdays we still have to come to class 2 days during the week to fulfill our clock hours.
  11. Yes it did. Yes Cambridge did start a ASN. To my knowledge the pre reqs are included and you get no credit if you already have them completed. Next it's a new program so it is not accredited yet. It's approved but not accredited. Plus the price is double that of the PN for a ASN. I'm going to pass on that. But I really hope something works out for you. Just keep at it you will find your path
  12. Do you have any pre reqs done for your RN? I did my PN program and took a few courses online to finish off my pre reqs. Also make sure you throughly do your research on the college network. Anyway Congrats and good luck!!
  13. That was exactly what happened to me I was working 40 hrs a week 8 to 5 mon to Fri so a RN program would not have worked for me. I would get out of work and brave traffic to get to school by 6. Once clinicals started it was much better we had clinicals 2 times a week. A 6 to 10pm on a weeknight and then saturdays 630am to about 330pm. I was greatful I got the job at FH I work night shift 12 hrs 3 days a week and they were super flexible with my schedule since I was a student. As a PCT you need to have the cna license. I literally watched youtube. 4yourcna tells you exactly how to do the skills. I look back and laugh at how easy those skills are lol. I too wish i had of found a pct job but then again i would of gotten a rude awaking when i would of applied for FA. Starting school my son was 7 months and now he is 2. I feel a little guilty working/schooling so much but In the end it is totally worth. If anyone knows the battle your going through it is me. You gotta do what bests for you. I shake my head at the cost but I plan on busting my butt to pay it off. I just turned 28 so I feel like time is catching up on me but I'm hanging in there. Good luck let me know if I can help in anyway
  14. AshleyBenton, I GRADUATE NEXT MONTH TOOO!! my goodness has this been a long, rough road. I'm in florida and my local community college ASN bridge program which is online but has clinicals is 1 year. I'd start Aug 16 and finish in Aug of the following year. Then after for a BSN your looking at another 18months
  15. Super sorry for all the typos and grammar errors. I'm on my phone and that was a lot to type. Let me know if you have any questions about anything and I'll try my best to help. :)
  16. Hi aw6018, I actually did go to Cambridge. I graduate next month 10/28/15 THANK GOD!!! I was in your exact same boat. Back in may I started attending Valencia to finish out my last 2 pre reqs which was developmental psych and microbiology. I took pysch over the summer and plan on taking micro in the spring term since I didn't want to do that during fall semester as i will have to take my nclex at the same time. I have hopeful plans to be apart of the valencia bridge class starting fall 2016. As for Cambridge I have my regrets because it can be unorganized at times but I had a good instructor. Financial Aid was a nightmare because the financial aid dept was unorganized. Lucky I kept Track of all my finances and knew how much I qualified for and when I was supposed to receive it. I ending up with $14k in loans when it was all said and done with. Plus I had 10k from previous schooling. So it wasn't cheap. Also My program was entirely too long. It was 85 weeks aka 22 months . They recently cut it to 18 month for the new evening classes starting. For me it worked because I went to college 10 years ago and actually did horrible my last semester and had below a 2.0 and didn't qualify for financial aid at any of the universities or CCS so I would of been stuck paying out of pocket like I'm doing yo finish out my pre reqs. This is something I didn't realize before and I'm glad the length of the program gave me time to correct some of my mistakes. (Currently taking 2 course that is had gotten Fs in for grade forgiveness) also I could of switched to the day LPN class and graduated in March but like I said I had a really good teacher and by the time I found out the true length of the program I was already invested 8k in and 5 months into the program. I had to continue on. Within 8 months I successfully challenged the CNA exam and landed a job at florida Hospital as a PCT. If I could do it over again I would still presume my LPN but I would try for a tech school first for a cheaper price because I can get grants to cover my ASN bridge at the CC but I'm a little worried about running out of grants for my BSN. But I will figure it out as that comes along. I eventually would like to become a NP so we shall she how it all goods.
  17. Hey all how many credits can transfer in? Looks like if I went to galen I would have to redo A&P cause they are older then 5 years, redo a psychology cause I have intro to psy instead of developmental. I haven't taken pharm at a transferable school so I'd have to take that. As well as micro. So to get the cost down should I knock some of these courses out at a local CC? Any recommendations?
  18. Hey everyone I'm moving along in my LPN studies and focused on what school I want to attend for my bridge program. I recently landed a job at Florida Hospital as As PCT so you know what that means..... TUITION REIMBURSEMENT! !!!!! however I know the 2 CCs offer bridge starts 1 time a year in August. I graduate LPN in Oct 2015 which means I cant start until Aug 2016 (applications put in May) which I think it pretty long. I looked at herzing but I currently have all my pre reqs except Microbio and $31k (just for nursing course w/pre reqs transferred in ) price tag is out of my budget especially with current student loans. Anyway I found a perfect school in the Tampa area called Galen school of nursing and according to the FL board of nursing is shows approved vs accredited. So my question is what exactly does this mean and is it super bad to attend a approved school? I plan to bridge to my BSN at UCF hopefully right after due to my my hospital trying to achieve magnet status.
  19. Just wanted to give a quick update. I been doing home care since Aug. And barely doing that. It's not very stable. Well I'm pleased to announce after 63 applications I am now a Hospital PCT. All I did was be persistent. I landed a job at the #1 hospital in central florida on the OB/GYN Oncology floor. :::Fist pump::: my foots in the door for when I finish nursing school.... keep at it ladies.
  20. Thank you for your input. I was waiting on the mRI to take place along with the results. Seems I have 7 bulging discs and 1 herniated disc and a muscle spasm. My doctor has me meeting with an neurologist soon so I'll know what my options are then. It's pretty painful. i currently can't work as a CNA and I have been accommodated for clinicals so far. I guess it's a waiting game to see how far the injury goes.
  21. I was recently in a car accident and curious about back injuries and nursing. I'm a current LPN student with dreams of becoming a RN. if hypothetically I'm diagnosed with a back impairment can i still work in the field as a nurse? Any one face similar situations (
  22. Thanks everyone for the responses. It's good to she the different opinions.
  23. I mean I sorta of think she abusing it. And I do mind my own business I have all A's. And yes it does effect the class because if she misses something we have to go over it again or if she doesn't present her projects on time we have to make time for her when we could be doing something else. I do want to also add there are only 3 students including myself and this is a part time program. We have lecture for 4 hrs 4 times a week. Once clinicals start it's will be only 1 8 hr day and then a 4 hr lecture. don't misunderstand I'm not rude or anything to her I'm just curious if anyone else has dealt with a situation like so...
  24. Currently finishing up Med surg 2 and there's a women in her 40's who is battling stomach cancer. She battled another form of cancer before. Everytime we discuss something in lecture about cancer she get mad and asked if this has to be covered or she wont participate or simply ask if she can be excused. She is quick to pull the "Cancer card" as as she calls it. I understand chemo takes a lot out of you. But everytime i turn around she's pulling the cancer card. Oh I'm not feeling well I have to go. I was sick all weekend so i dont have my HW or my project is late cause i didnt feel well. And she eagerly tells us that she doesnt get point deducted for absence or late projects.Like I'm worried when we start clinicals next week if she has has a patient who has cancer she won't care for them. The teacher and Don seems to go with it and it's kind of annoying. I sort if feel like she making her way through school. I don't know anyone experience this in school or should I show more compassion.
  25. My boyfriends car broke down 2 weeks ago I totally feel you. Sometimes this forum can be a little abrasive lol. my BF works at 6pm which is same time I have to be to class. We leave at 430pm he gets to his job by 5pm and sits in the break room until 6. Meanwhile I make it to class with time to spare. Try working out a plan like so. Stay positive. Your not kicked out yet. :)
