  1. Hey...has anyone run into the same problem as me? I've just been accepted into the accelerated BSN program at National University in San Diego. I am doing my preliminary stuff to get ready for orientation in June and get to the background check info. I knew that it was coming...we were told at Forum about it. What I didn't know, because we were not informed, is that any flag on that check will pretty much shut you out of the program. Apparently a lot of the facilities where we'll train (esp.peds rotations) will not allow you to train if you have any flag on your record. I had a DUI 16 years ago and they are telling me that they can't guarantee my training will work out because of this. I was under the impression, that if you were upfront and honest from the outset that the hospitals would at least look at what your record said and decide on a case by case basis. National is telling me that they don't do that anymore and a flag is the same for everyone. I met with the Director of the Department just last Friday to find this out. Just for the heck of it, I looked at SDSU's info for their nursing students and they have a clear statement in there about exactly this, but they have in before hand. I may have just wasted a year of my life and like 5 grand.
