  1. Hypersaurus/Maria, Thanks again for all the info! I looked on the Michigan housing website (thanks for the link) and looked at some of the house apartments in Marquette. Those don't seem to be too expensive. Maria, I'm glad to knock Olympia off my list. I saw their name on the website....haha won't be going to those! I'm just so nervous to move somewhere new all by myself I don't know anyone up there to tell me all of these things. Thank you guys so much again, I really appreciate it. abotz
  2. Maria, Thank you very much for all the wonderful information! I plan on taking a trip to Marquette after my spring semester and will be moving there in early August. Do you have any suggestions on where I might find a decently priced (I pay for all my schooling, bills, etc. myself) place to live? I will be 23 in Feb.(so I am passed my partying stage) and have a medium sized (very well behaved) dog. I have looked at quite a bit online and ran across Sawyer village, which seems to be 20 min from campus (I don't really mind the commute), but I would rather have something closer. I have also heard that Sawyer is kind of a dump, but then again I read forums online that say compared to the city it is nothing. My dog seems to be the problem, so if you know of any pet friendly places could you please let me know? I am trying to compose a list of places so I can visit all of them and hopefully sign a lease after my spring semester for fall. Thank you again, abotz
  3. I have talked to a counselor and I will be a sophomore when attending next fall with a semester to go before I can apply to the nursing program. The woman i spoke to told me that it is required to have 12 credits at northern. When I attend Next fall I will have Physiology, Med Micro, nutrition, and ch109 (that is specific to northern right?) I have all of my other ones out of the way, and if i decide to go summer semester I will hopefully have physiology out of the way too. If you don't mind me asking what is the best place to live? I will be 23 in next year so I am not a huge partier and I also have a dog (hence my problem). Other than that I am very pleased to hear that the instructors are so eager to help students, that is a huge relief. At lcc they weed out students and are almost cruel to them (not to mention the program is impossible to get into). I have a 3.8 GPA and hopefully I don't have a problem with the classes I still need to take at NMU. Did you have any specific problems with any of the pre-req's i have listed? Thank you so much for all of the information abotz
  4. Maria, I plan on attending northern in fall 2011 and will have most of my prereq's completed. Could you please give me stats for your acceptance into the nursing program? Thanks in advance, abotz
  5. Hypersaurus, This thread seems to be rather old so hopefully I get a response. I am planning on transferring to NMU next fall to apply for the nursing program. Since you are already in the program could you please give me some insight as to if you like it or not? I am from Lansing and transferring from LCC to NMU. Is there any advice you can give for admissions processing or living arrangements? Any of this would be extremely helpful. Thanks in advance, abotz
  6. Where were you able to receive your BSN from? I was told that you can not apply to BSN programs without getting your RN from an accredited institution. Thank you for clarifying Gogebic for me. I am currently attending Lansing Community College and have a 4.0, although it is accredited it is extremely hard to get into. You have to do so many extra things and they also allow people with bachelors and associates in other areas apply and they receive more points then you do (very demeaning). Needless to say I am looking for an alternative without having to spend a lot of money at a university before i get my BSN. If you could please tell me how your credits transferred and to what university to get your BSN that would be a huge help :) Thank you!
  7. malenurse, I was wondering if you had a problem getting a job after you graduated from nursing school at gogebic? I live in Lansing as of now and LCC's pre-req requirement is ridiculous. I was wondering what G.P.A. you needed to get into each program as well. I know the nursing school is not accredited and i have heard that it might be harder to find a job after attending there.
