  1. Thanks for all the info, Canoehead! Hi liliclover.. there are several LPN jobs posted on the Calgary Health Region website and nursing homes are in need of LPNs, too.. https://calgaryhealthregion.ats.hrsmart.com/cgi-bin/a/searchjobs_quick.cgi I would also check jobbank.gc.ca, wowjobs, indeed, careerbuilder and simplyhired. Good luck! =)
  2. Thanks, Janfrn.. =) Sorry about that.. I will welcome tips and advices about safe living areas in Halifax for public posts. PM please for any personal messages! :tku:
  3. Hi! I am moving to Halifax (from Calgary) by the end of June or July 1st. I have read in a separate post that the good areas to live/rent in Halifax are Clayton Park, Bedford and Sackville. Any other tips for rental places? :) I've been checking Kijiji and I think I have a lot of options for temporary summer sublet. It will give me enough time to look for a better place for long-term stay. However, I was wondering if there is anybody our there looking for a roommate or who knows anyone looking for a roommate? Thanks!
  4. I am really sorry that you failed the CRNE for the 3rd time. I do not wish to address you by your current Allnurses ID as it is not very encouraging.. I would rather call you "meanttobeanurse" because the mind is a powerful thing.. if you believe that you can do it, you will exhaust all means to reach your goal.. At the moment, I do not know what to say to make you feel better I also do not know what options there are for you until you receive the letter from CNO but I hope you find strength and encouragement through this thread: Before the Morning (Failed CRNE three times. what now?) - Nursing for Nurses Please don't give up..
  5. I'm so happy for you, RescueNinja!!!! Finally, GREAT NEWS after the looooooooooooong wait!! Congratulations to everyone who passed and to those who were not successful in the exam, please believe that you WILL make it next time.. don't give up.. with hard work and a positive attitude, anything is possible
  6. My heart goes out to those who did not pass please don't give up, believe that you will make it next time.. I'm so sorry..
  7. I'm so happy for you, Jess1ca!!!! :ancong!: Now go out, have fun & enjoy the rest of the Stampede festivities!!!
  8. Hi fixmypctoday, I used the 4th & 5th editions of the CRNE Prep Guide. Will this be your first time to write a nursing exam? Being an IEN, I already reviewed extensively for my Philippine Nursing Licensure Exam. Aside from my textbooks (I read the Fundamentals of Nursing textbook from cover to cover that time), I used Saunders & Lippincott Nclex Review CDs to practice answering multiple choice questions which is similar to the CRNE Prep Guide with rationales for correct & incorrect answers. It is important to review what you learned in school but it is also important to practice answering multiple choice questions within a specific time frame. For the June 2010 CRNE, we had to answer 208 questions within 4 hours (that means at least 50 questions every hour). Good luck! :)
  9. Got the results from CRNNS... I passed!!!!! I'd like to thank the moderators & members of allnurses for all the information that has been shared here.. from registration procedures to CRNE study tips.. thank you soooooooooo much!!!
  10. Congratulations, crne2010! :clpty:
  11. My apologies, Silverdragon102.. I appreciate the reminder.. as for the survey, the examinee who was submitting her booklet & answer sheet was filling out the survey portion of the answer sheet at the invigilator's table which caused a line up behind her.. maybe it was optional and she chose to complete the survey.. =)
  12. whitebunny, i'll send you a PM soon.. i just need 3 more public posts.. =)
  13. hi jess1ca.. it is frustrating.. i want to mention some of the questions from yesterday's exam soooooo bad but we did sign a confidentiality form..
  14. A very wise former professor once said that if there was only a minute left and still lots questions unanswered, pick a letter between B or C and just shade away.. I did that one time during a mock exam and shaded all C's in one straight line.. I got 9 correct answers out of 20.. not bad, ei? whitebunny, my fingers are crossed.. I believe in the power of the mind.. we studied hard, we will pass! =) same goes to everyone who wrote the exam yesterday.. let's hope for the best.. now we wait.. and send out resumes, no time to waste..
  15. Ohhh the invigilators made sure we did the survey.. maybe that caused the line up for handing in the exam booklet & answer sheet.. aside from checking the ID again, they asked test takers to shade the survey before they left..
  16. Hahhahaha sorry but that was funny, whitebunny! Your ovals LOL! So what was your reaction when you realized you had to shade the ovals for the survey?
  17. Hi whitebunny & rescueninja... I, too, skimmed through about 20 questions when I realized that I may not be able to finish on time.. I used up the whole 4 hours and by the end of the 3rd hour, I swear my seatmate could hear my stomach grumbling.. what's worse, my bladder was about to burst! Couldn't get myself to waste 5-10 precious minutes just to go to the toilet.. I agree, let's stay positive and hope for the best knowing that we diligently studied for the exam.. My tip for those taking the exam in the future.. make sure to keep track of the time and answer 50 questions per hour.. that way, you'll finish all 200 questions on time. =)
  18. Hello angelkatkat.. you'll find all the answers here in allnurses.. search for the topics and read the threads.. To answer one of your questions, the CRNE is available only in Canada.. =)
  19. Hi angelkat. The CRNE consists of multiple-choice questions only (choose one answer which you believe is the best among the four choices). To everyone who will be writing the exam next week, I wish you good luck.. =)
  20. I'll try to find a copy of the 4th ed (would be good to review, too).. I agree with Akardan, if you have the 4th ed., you should be fine.. same goes for me, I'll be fine with my 5th ed. I think the contents of our prep guides could be similar. The important thing is that we understand the rationales behind the correct & incorrect answers. =)
  21. Hi Nice earyen, Are you in Canada? I am here in Calgary. I have a copy of the CRNE Prep Guide 5th ed. and I love it! I would offer to lend you my copy but chances are you are far away from where I am right now. It is quite expensive to order it straight from Ottawa. I purchased my copy from a university here in Calgary and I did not have to pay for shipping fees & HST (just Alberta`s GST).
  22. Lucky you, Silverdragon102. =) Ohh, now I get it, "dh" refers to your husband (sorry, we Filipinos have a different meaning for dh).. Good luck to us all.. I have decided to write the CRNE in October 2010. Previous posts/threads on CRNE are really helpful. I admire the positive attitude of many members here and their willingness to help others. Thank you.. Re this thread's topic on "difficulty finding work".. I've always believed in the power of determination and hard work.. whatever I set my mind to, I find a way to reach my goals.. as they say, "If there's a will, there's a way." Everything legal, of course. So to Aj04 & dvsbec, good luck and I hope we all find employment soon. =)
  23. Hi Silverdragon102, I have been reading your posts and I want to say thank you for all the information. I read several threads and I just have a few questions. Earlier you mentioned that you currently do not have a work permit.. you also mentioned your student visa.. Similarly, I am an International Student in Alberta. My Study Permit expires in Oct 2010. I am also an IEN. I received eligibility to write the CRNE from CRNNS. I was wondering why you haven't applied for a work permit. When you said you are hoping to have PR in the next 12 months, will this be under the NSNP's International Graduate Stream? Sorry for the personal questions. I am eager to find an employer in NS and apply for the Temporary License but, at the same time, I still dream of earning a Canadian Diploma one day. I really enjoy studying and I will probably continue at a college/university in NS.
