  1. Hello, I'm currently working as a NP in New York state and planning to work in California. My California RN license is 'inactive' status and I'm in the process of finger print to activate license. I completed Advanced pharmacology course May/2012, graduated FNP program in May/2013, and have been working as an NP since July/2016. Technically, I completed Advanced pharmacology over 6 years ago and have about 2 years of NP work experience. 1. In my case, what would be the next step in order to obtain CA NP furnishing number? 2. Am I NOT eligible to work as NP in California until I have 5 years of NP experience? or Do I have to re-take Advanced Phamacology class again? 3. If I have to re-take Pharmacology, can this be online continuing education course (I found this online CE course: 45-Hour Advanced Pharmacology) or Does it have to be provided by NP program? I am very confused that I found 2 different regulation document by CA BRN saying following: https://www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/regulations/npr-b-45.pdf ("ADVANCED PHARMACOLOGY CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE FOR FURNISHING: A forty- five hour (45) continuing education (CE) course. The course must include a written test of knowledge to demonstrate comprehension of the course objectives.") https://www.cdrewu.edu/sites/default/files/2018-01/NP%2520Certification.pdf ( In page 17: "The advanced pharmacology course must be completed at any nationally accredited master's or post-master's level academic Nurse Practitioner program. Continuing Education course(s) are not acceptable to meet the Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number advanced pharmacology course requirement.") The above online course I found cost $500 and I'm hesitant to signing up unless I get clear answer from BRN. The online CE provider cleary stated that they are approved by CA BRN for furnishing requirement. Then why CA BRN stated that they won't accept onlice CE course (in NP application form). Anyone can guide me? I'm still waiting CA BRN's response.
  2. Hello, I have a question about applying RN license by endorsement while I am in Grace period of OPT. I have a BSN degree from United states and I have active license in Georgia. Now, I am trying to go to graduate school for Master program. I just completed OPT end of May and OPT expired on 6/1/11. Therefore, I am in a valid grace period. Now I am trying to apply several schools in NewYork and California states. So I am going to apply NewYork and Cali RN license by endorsement. 1. Will NY and Cali Board of Nursing reject my application because I am in grace period of OPT? Is this true? Have you seen any cases in this situations? Though I am staying legally in u.s. at this time, there's no legal document to prove this. 2. Can Non-US citizen apply other state license by endorsement while they are staying in home country?? I have seen people come to us by nclex exam, but have not heard coming with endorsement (who already have state license) I want to know if I have to physically present in the u.s. to apply endorsement. I am afraid they will reject to issue a license because I am in a grace period These boards operators don't seem to understand about opt and grace period. I really appreciate for answering my questions and your time.
