CNA certification Washington DC
My app is in process. The form asks for your out of state certificate and your test score on one of the national CNA tests. MD does not require a test -- for nursing students you just need to pass Fundamentals.

Thanks. So in the application where it asks for CNA test information did you leave it blank?

CNA certification Washington DC
I will soon be getting my Maryland CNA license. MD licenses nursing students, like myself, as CNAs once we complete our Fundamentals course. (No licensing exam required.) I am also interested in getting my Washington DC CNA license. DC has a "certification by endorsement" if you have a license in another state. It remains unclear whether I have to take the DC licensing exam. Anyone know?

Older Nursing students
I'm 51 and in my first semester (junior) of a BSN. Our class is a real mixture of people going straight through and second career folks, like myself.

hi classmates: i e-mailed prof dobish for some advice on which texts she thought were worth purchasing for the nursing fundamentals class (304). her feedback is in (italics) below. hope you find this helpful. rich camer the package does include the necessary books for the class, but you also need the communications module book which is interpersonal communication by arnold and boggs. some people don't want the study guide or the access to my nursing lab so that is why it is available separately. the text book is very necessary. the access to my nursing lab many of the student really like as it has practice test, study guides and the skills. the demonstration of the skill will now be available on you blackboard site in the fall but the mynursinglab will provide another look at how to do the skills. others also like the study guide. some people buy just the book and the my nursing lab. also you really need the communcations module book. the my nursing lab is available for two years so some students use it other courses also. i wish i could be of more help, but you have to choose what works best for you. i look forward to meeting you in the fall. barb kozier fund of nursing pkg berman edition:n/a publisher:pearson isbn: the package includes: kozier & erb's fundamentals of nursing, 8th edition by audrey j. berman, shirlee snyder, barbara j. kozier, glenora erb study guide for kozier & erb's fundamentals of nursing, 8th edition by shirlee snyder, barbara j. kozier, glenora erb mynursinglab student access code card for kozier & erb's fundamentals of nursing by audrey j. berman, shirlee snyder, barbara j. kozier, glenora erb prentice hall real nursing skills: physical and health assessment by pearson education

Hi Grey Lady: Just opened the e-mail regarding the registration procedure and I am a little confused. Do we fill out one form with our fall classes and then send them to you? Do we then get on the SURFS system and electronically register again?

I think this blog/list is a great idea for sharing information, getting questions answered, and just relieving pre-school jitters. As to intros: This will be a second career for me. I've spent a number of years as a staff and freelance health writer and editor. I came to this area in my 20's but I'm a New Yawk boy at heart. (Still looking for a decent slice, but haven't found it yet.) Would like to hear from others starting again and planning to balance that, plus kids, family and the rest.
