I'm about to finish my first year in college and in order to apply to my school's college of nursing in 2011, I have to take summer school. I already have 10 credit hours lined up and I have absolutely no experience with nursing. I figured out what I wanted to do my senior year of High school and instead of worrying about nursing that summer I stressed about college (I'm the first member of my family to go to college). I didn't volunteer my first year in college because I wanted to focus on my grades (I did it! I have a 3.8! :)) and I took that time to adjust to college life. However, now that I have the summer to use to volunteer and to pursue my interest in nursing I don't know where to start! No one in my family or friends knows anything about nursing. My classes start June 1st and end Aug 1. College classes start Aug 23. I was looking into CNA courses, but they're 8 weeks and they conflict with my summer courses. CNA is 7 credit hours so I would be at 17 credit hours this summer, but the class is closed at my community college. Can you please give me information to guide me? I want to volunteer in May as much as I can, but what jobs should I do, where should I volunteer, where should I start?
