  1. Hi Fiona, Sorry, what I meant to write was....I knew what NICU was but I just didn't what floor. Gosh, after 4 straight nights I can't type properly. :stone Anywho...off to work for night 5! Kim
  2. Hey again, I'm not sure what unit NICU is...I used to work on Unit 42b-It's gyne/oncology surgery. I did my schooling out in Alberta but home is in BC. I moved back in April. Foothills is an awesome place to work, busy hospital and big. I hope you have a good time there and I wish you all the best! Kim P.S. Winters can get quite cold so I hope you have a good jacket! :)
  3. Hi Spots, I used to work at Foothills Medical Centre and basically any scrubs will do. I can tell you some uniform stores. There's one right by the hospital on University Drive I believe called,"Uniforms by Karen." Her sister has a store in the SW by Chinook Mall called," Vogue Uniforms." By Heritage C-Train station, there is,"The Nursing Station." "Med Threads is also in the SW, past Chinook. If you need the exact locations, try and google it or use Superpages.ca. Any other questions, ask away.....where are you working in Calgary and what unit? Kim....(Now an LPN but going on for my RN) [email protected]
  4. Hi, Is there anyone here that works at a diet clinic....specifically the Dr. Bernstein Health and Diet clinic? Kim
  5. Hi, Just wondering if there are any LPN's employed at the Dr. Bernstein's Diet Clinic? Can you tell me about your work there? Kim
  6. Hi, To answer your questions, I went to do my LPN because I wasn't sure if Nursing was for me. I am now applying for the RN program because I think there are way more opportunities for them than LPN's. I think Nursing is also in my blood, coming from a family of nurses. I graduated from Bow Valley College last month, which is in Calgary. I got a job at a fertility clinic full-time. However, I'm thinking of leaving it to get a casual and soon to maybe part-time position at the hospital. I found that working at the clinic, that I didn't use much hands-on nursing and was more doing office stuff. And I'm not comfortable doing phone calls too. I don't want to lose my nursing skills too early in the start of my career. The fertility clinic is really specialized but it has been a good experience so far. I have started to get my paperwork done to Douglas and I applied for this December and April. Hopefully all goes well with that, plus I'm eager to get back home to BC.
  7. Are you going into first year of the RN program? How long did you have to wait before you got accepted? I've applied to Douglas but for the LPN Bridge-in to the RN program....hopefully I can start that next year!!! Kim

  9. Hi, I was just wondering if there are people on here that have started out as an LPN and completed the bridge-in to their RN? Where did you do your program and are you satisfied with being an RN as opposed to an LPN? I'm trying to get some feedback on either staying as an LPN or going on to being an RN. I'm going to be graduating as an LPN in June.....thanks! Kim
  10. Hey RNBN2B...I'm doing my clinical out at Foothills too....what unit are you on??? Kim
  11. Have you started already or are still in school doing the LPN program? I am currently in an LPN program but I graduate in June. I'm in my 3rd clinical right now and I start my preceptorship in May. I'm looking into it but I would still like to be in a structured class environment, especially learning about Nursing. Do you live in Alberta? Kim
  12. Hi everyone! Is there anyone here doing that Post-LPN to BSN program? Can you tell me anything about it? Are you enjoying? Is the school good? Thanks, Kim....only 4 more months to go till I graduate!
