I am on allnurses.com quite a bit lately and have noticed many new grad nurses are having difficulty finding work. I begin nursing school next week, so I have a couple of years before job hunting begins for me. I know alot can change between now and then; however, just out of curiosity, are new graduate nurses in Texas having as many problems finding work as in other states?

I do remember her saying something about the Performance Hall...I'm hoping we will get an e-mail just to be sure.

Hi everyone I am also married with two kids...my youngest starts Kindergarten on the 23rd and I start school on the 24th. I am soooo excited, nervous, anxious, and so many other emotions all in one. The path to becoming a GREAT NURSE is going to be an adventure for all of us, I'm sure. So good luck to all of us, and hopefully in a couple of years we'll all be on here posting about our graduation. Can't hardly wait!!!! :)

Hi everyone I begin nursing school on the 24th and can't wait. I've been reading alot of posts on here where some nurses have more independence than others. I know it depends on where you work so I was just wondering what area of nursing you all have been in that allowed for the most autonomy? Thank you in advance for all your replies.

I have afternoon lecture...originally I was supposed to have morning, but I guess they switched it because my clinical instructor changed as well. I have read some things on there too, but we may have really great experiences. We'll just have to wait and see...a little over a week to go. Yay!!

Good...I'm glad it went well. We haven't had an orientation yet...I guess the VA was the only one's to have 'so-called' orientation over the summer.

I don't know exactly what we'll be covering during orientation, but I'm sure there will be alot of info packed into those 3 days. I think I'm going to begin some early reading as well. It's always better to be a step ahead if possible:)....Hey Jess, how did your VA orientation go? Do you think you're going to like it there?

Hey Jess...I'm Heather. I know, I'm REALLY excited too. let's see...I have black-ish curly hair...probably wearing it up. of course I may have described about 20 other people's hair that will be there too, lol. maybe we should pick a place to meet up that day.

JLKRNTB, I am so sorry to hear you didn't get in. I was really hoping we would all get good news and get to meet each other this fall. Keep at it and I'll be praying you get in next time.

Hey there...good for you getting back in school. I'm a mother of a 7 yr. old and a 5 yr. old and started back to school after a 7 yr. break. Of all classes to start back with I chose A&P I. Everyone called me 'Crazy' because I took it in a Maymester (13 days of class to cover everything in A&P I...who knew that was even possible). I involved my kids alot in my studying. I would quiz them to help myself retain the material and they had lots of fun with it. By the time I finished that class I had a high 'A' average and my kids had learned the names of alot of their bones, lol. Taking a summer course is definitely not crazy and I'm sure you'll do great. Most likely Monday is the BIG day....I was thinking there may have been a back up at the post office because it's the end of tax season...late filers. Just an idea.
