Ok, Fine... no Ivy Tech... Love of nursing!
Thanks! I know it can get frustrating but, you're right, if one thing I learned in the military is that complaining doesn't get you anywhere, action does! Like I said before, it takes a huge heart, non critical and a cool head to be a nurse... well, a good one anyway. I've seen my share of Mean Mildred's and I know that's not the kid of people we want to be. I don't know what my pool will be, but I hope the board can see that I've been through the tough part and all i have to do is prove it academically. I have a 6 month old baby, Sofia, and a 2 year old, Elias. Sofia was born with Hemifacial microsomia. Recently she had to use a feeding tube for five months. Week after week I was placing NG tubes down her little nose. I hadn't had any experience with peds, so this was challenging. But, like I thank God because this wasn't the first time that I had done it! We were considering a G-tube, but we placed her in the hands of God and had faith that she would pull through and eat fine on her own. It was a challenge, but she's flourishing! (Praise God!) She's a normal and healthy baby and meeting all of her milestones! Every day we have a session of physical therapy (her and I) and we do range of motion, touch therapy, and mommy time of course! I'm just at wonder of how what I've been through helps me be what I am today. I'm sure that that is the case for many others! And, that's why I know that I was meant to be a nurse, and that I will be... We don't go through life aimlessly- there is a reason for our existence!

Wow! Thank you so much! It's great to hear someone like you! You truly have a heart! And I know that it takes a huge heart to be a nurse. A nurse goes through so much and the stress is everywhere- from the docotrs to the patient to their families and keeping a clear mind and a non critical heart is the best you can do! Thank you for the info! I will check it out! I hope you have an amazing day and congratulations on your graduation! Wow!!!

Ok? So are you a student or an RN? Because you sure sound as if you know who will get in and who will not. Explain yourself, please.

I completely agree with you, however, I believe, and I'm basing this from what I've heard around me and in class, most of these students want to be nurses because of the pay, not for the love of nursing, they don't want to put the time in and get the experience and they talk so much garbage about how they won't work from the bottom up. Thank you for not throwing me the pitty party- that wasn't what I was looking for. I was hoping someone out there knew of a program that could take my experience as a 5 year medic in the Navy for credit. I should have been clearer on my original post, rather than vent my frustrations. However, it surprises me that someone like you would bother to even answer a thread of someone who sounds like they are looking for some pitty. I am retaking these classes this next semester. The competition is fierce, and I realize that, that wont stop me and though I love nursing, I love putting food on the table for my children better. thanks for your opinion. to everyone else... my offer is still up about the stories! let me know!

no, it's the cheapest in the state right? I'm not from around here, I've only been here three years, and that's what i've heard. Where else can I go? This is the case of 'the poor get poorer and the rich get richer'. Even trying to get an education is a struggle. You have to have perfect grades or perfect credit, non of which is my case... (sigh) this is getting old. But, I must continue... there has to be a better way... there just has to be...

So, I was a Hospital Corpsman for five years in the U.S. Navy and boy do I have some great stories! I don't want to go on and on about them, but geeze are they very close to Grey's Anatomy! ha! so, Everything from chest tubes, to cabages, iv's to central caths, IJ's to ICP's and then some... so, If you would like to read some, let me know... but, you know what gets me the most... None of my five year experience is worth ANYTHING to Indiana... I'm sooo disappointed!
