Compared to other community colleges in the area its great. USF is 20 minutes away and they have a 100% pass rate all the time. Most nursing schools in Florida Universities are great with 92% and higher pass rates (USF, UM, UF, FSU, UCF, FAU, FIU, FGCU). Community colleges are another story unfortunately... but for the cheap tuition compared to the Universities, it's such an attractive option.

It's St. Petersburg College, in St. Petersburg, FL. They offer only a few bachelor's programs and nursing is one of them. There is no admissions requirement for the school, except for the nursing program of course. It's transitioning into state college, but VERY slowly. Their nursing program is actually pretty decent- the NCLEX pass rate was near 85% for the past year. Hope that answered your question and thanks for the post! Alex

I am a pre- nursing student right now and my eventual goal is to become a family nurse practitioner. Would receiving a BSN from a community college that just started awarding BSN's about 5 years ago put me at a disadvantage? Would I have a better chance being accepted into a NP program coming from a big name university? All help is greatly appreciated! Alex
