Jobs for new grad BSN who worked as LVN
Hello, I'm currently an LVN and will be starting a BSN bridge program in the Spring. Though I will be a "new grad" for an RN, I still have nursing experience. Has anyone been in a similar situation and if so, did your prior LVN experience help you to find a job? I will be looking in South Orange County and North San Diego County (Oceanside/Carlsbad, Scripps, etc...) . Thank you. This is my first post so I hope I did it correctly!

Nurses not speaking english at work
I'm a nursing student and when I'm at my clinical sites, I am there to LEARN. I'm soaking it up like a sponge, however, I'm so unhappy with many of the sites because the nursing staff speak Tagalog in front of us. One of the first things we do when we get to our site is participate in shift change report. After report, my instructor starts grilling us to tell her about our patients and a brief overview of their conditions/medications/treatments, etc... and all I can do is say, "The nurses chose to talk in their home language so I have no idea". This is really sad to me. All I want to do is learn so I can be a good nurse when I complete school. I don't mind if people speak other languages while on their breaks but please, do not do so to my exclusion. You may be talking about the weather but I feel like you are talking about me. It's rude and unprofessional. If I were to move to another country to work, I would be expected to adapt. "When in Rome" is my motto! Nurses, please remember that you were a student once and remember how difficult it can be. I respect your culture and love your food and have even listened to your music with my Filipino friends. I am trying and hope you can too.

Discouraged with school
Hey wiggi, Keep your chin up and keep your self out of the drama. Focus on school and since you are half way through, don't start the second guessing your decision. If you find that nursing on the "people" side isn't for you, there are so many other things you can do that having your nursing background will help you with. The post from A New Start is correct, I've chosen nursing as my second profession, the first being in a totally different industry for close to 20 years. I've been yelled at, back stabbed, talked about, butt kissed and butt kicked and that's the way of the world. I'm not saying it's right, it's not, but learn some effective coping stratagies and find some people that will support you and listen to you and not stir up the drama and that will be a step in the right direction. I wish you the best of luck! SassyCass
