Show of hands - How many out there absolutely HATE the online job application process? I know why hospitals do it. It's all about the economics. I get it. But so many hospital websites are poorly designed, difficult to navigate, and often times crash in the middle of an application, requiring one to start over from the beginning. I've had hiring managers tell me the Dallas/Ft. Worth area is totally saturated with RNs. The schools in the DFW area are pumping out over 500 new nurses every year. There aren't near that many jobs available, especially for new nurses. I am so incredibly frustrated with the "don't call us, we'll call you" letters. I decided to get into nursing for all the right reasons. I have a good transcript, glowing recommendation letters, and over a year of hospital experience working part-time during school. But this all seems to count for nothing when you can't get past the website gatekeepers. I remember the "old days" (yes, I'm dating myself), when you would strive to make a great first impression. You are punctual, dress nicely, are pleasant and professional. Many a job has been gained by doing well in that face-to-face interview. But nowadays that has all been removed from the process. Oh well, thanks for letting me vent.

Many a job has been gained by doing well in that face-to-face interview. But nowadays that has all been removed from the process. I've had hiring managers tell me the Dallas/Ft. I never let the wild stories of huge salaries and incredible benefits drive my decision to get into nursing. I decided to get into nursing for all the right reasons.
