I called my financial aid office to ask about the COA and they told me the stipend would count against it. Furthermore they said that if the amount given went over my COA I would not be eligible to keep any federal loans. I did find out though that there are ways to increase your COA, such as adding on daycare prices, which for me were a biggie...

KCC Microbiology teacher I recommend is Teena Michaels (She does lab and lecture). I've also heard that Tuthill and Berestecky are good, but harder... Still I find I learn alot in Michaels class. ZOO I took online and that worked out just fine for me. Dunn is very helpful for as far as online goes. The lab I have Gima and I like her as well. Her class is more challenging then some labs, but there is extra-credit. Anyways, good luck to you! If you are serious about your work you will do fine!

Finally!! Got the letters yesterday! Accepted UH, denied KCC, already denied MEPN... Looks like UHM is a winner! You all should be getting something really soon I hope because the letter of intent to register is due on Fri. Next Week. Also not sure if this matters, but my last name starts with "M" and everyone I know with an earlier letter has an A-L last name... I was thinking about hijacking my mailperson yesterday, but lucky for him, it came. Anyways good luck to everyone and see you at the orientation!

nmgp - Not sure about the breakdown, but I got interviewed without any letter from a professor and my friend got accepted w/o any profs. as well. I used a work reference and a community leader who I know well and used to volunteer with. From the information I gathered at the info session, the letters don't sway the decision too highly because almost all the letters will be positive anyways. To those concerned about the school------ UHM is a good school with a highly esteemed nursing program .... The regular BA and AA nursing programs through the UH system are all VERY competative. I went to UHM for my BA's. I never went on a tour before coming to the school and found that they have plenty of scholastic resources and other support programs. If you look at the percentage of people who pass the NCLEX, it is higher than the national average for all programs. When I talked to Erik, he said that since the program has been going on for a few years they have tweaked it for improvements. Living on campus is not too bad, but you can easily find roommates here and live for cheaper. Since this is a place where people are commonly transitioning, you can find deals for common living needs. You will meet classmates and people are generally friendly and willing to help. Costco and Sams Club are wonderful too. As far as grants and scholarships go, that is a tough one. I know we can't get federal grants because we all have BA's. There are some scholarships available through the UH system and if you are affiliated with a church denomination I would look into scholarships through them. Good Luck!!! Hello future nurses/ NPs, NAs etc. etc. Congratulations to all who have been accepted to the program. I was wondering if anyone who has received any kind of notification was on the Family NP track. I was interviewed by T. Zucherro sp.? and K. Quareshi, but haven't heard anything, and when I asked Erik he just said they would send letters in a few weeks.....which does not help my anticipation!!!! So I have somewhat lost hope for this program, but hopefully will get into the UHM BA or KCC AA program. Where there's a will there's a way!
