Humber Second-Entry 2011?
No but thanks for the link! I assumed they'd reviewed it already as I submitted my TR transcript but Ill phone to find out if that's the case.

Humber Second-Entry 2011?
Good luck! I have no idea how they figure out the anatomy requirement. I took Anatomy & Phsyiology through Thompson Rivers for my UBC pre-reqs but Humber seems to think I need to take it again, I guess they don't accept that class?

Humber Second-Entry 2011?
Has anyone else applied or been accepted to the Humber second entry preparatory program for 2011? I've been accepted and now I have to decide whether or not to go. I don't know a lot about the program, admittedly I was hoping to attend UBC but was not successful. (This surprised me.) Humber's program is longer than I'd been hoping for (3 years). But, it's a great opportunity and there's no time like the present. Does anyone know - if you maintain the average specified in the preparatory term (74%) are you automatically admitted to the second-entry program that starts in January? Or is admission to that program competitive as well?

UBC nursing application 2011
Well folks, that's it for me. Received notice this morning that I was unsuccessful. I've been accepted elsewhere but I'm still disappointed. Oh well, on to the next. In case the information is of interest/help to anyone else, the email tells me that the average academic score of applicants invited for an interview this year is 78.26% (mine was 77.10%). I know I was unsuccessful based on my supplemental application, but obviously I don't know what specifically was wrong with it (i.e. form or content.) Apparently my supplemental was, as they worded it, in "the top 75%" (but not the top 50%). Good luck to everyone who's still waiting to hear!

UBC Nursing 2010-2011
There's a thread going for the Sept 2011 applicants specifically: https://allnurses.com/canadian-nurses/ubc-nursing-application-526150.html The UBC Nursing website says that the average GPA required is 2.0 but the average GPA of 2009 applicants was over 3.0 (78%). http://www.nursing.ubc.ca/Undergrad/FAQ.aspx It also shows a final transcript deadline of June 15th (I assume this is for term 2?) http://www.nursing.ubc.ca/Undergrad/ApplicationProcess.aspx Good luck!

UBC nursing application 2011
Just checking in to say that I'm still waiting to hear as well. And, not that it seems to make a difference, but I'm a UBC Alumni (BA) and my last name starts with S :) I'm starting to get a little nervous at the idea of having so little time to prepare for an interview, if I'm offered one. I suppose at this point it would be best to simply assume I do and start preparing anyway.

UBC nursing application 2011
Hmm... I'm not sure. I wasn't expecting to hear back until the last week of March or first week of April, because that's when people heard last year. I do see that the provisional interview dates on the website are listed as being a few weeks earlier this year; however, it also states that people will be informed by the end of the first week in April. Hmm. I hope that changes (either we find out earlier, or the interview date is later) - I'd really like more than a week to prepare! (Yes, I know I can prepare either way but it's hard to buckle down when I don't know whether or not I'll use it!) :)

UBC nursing application 2011
Did everyone get their applications in? How are you feeling about it? I got mine in - I'm not sure how I feel. I feel strong about my resume but very nervous about my personal statement, etc. But that's always the case, for me! @jazzyp88 - FWIW, I have a friend who is currently in the UBC program. I asked her what she wrote for the memberships portion, as I didn't have much to put there either, and she told me that she actually just wrote "not applicable" - and she was accepted! So I wouldn't worry about it too much. Waiting until April to hear back is going to be hard!

Did you do your A&P through Thompson Rivers? If so, we were probably in the same exam session! :)

UBC nursing application 2011
Hey there! I've applied for UBC 2011! I don't have a lot to report yet. I finished my A&P pre-reqs in December and thankfully received good grades (A and A+!) so I'm feeling relieved about that. I'll be completing my supplemental this week. At first glance, my assumption is that work experience is meant to be point-form, and all the other fields (leadership, teamwork, etc) should be short paragraphs describing the experience. But I'm also unsure and I'll probably try to verify this with the nursing department before submitting my application. Good luck with yours! :)

Should I switch careers? (Canada)
From a quick view of their website, it looks like UBC-O admits to their nursing program in first year (i.e. directly out of high school), so it is different. It doesn't surprise me that they delay the clinical. From my understanding (and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong), UBC-V used to accept into the nursing program directly out of high school but delayed clinical until 3rd year. (When I first attended UBC, in 2001, some of my dorm-mates were 1st year Nursing straight out of high school.) However, currently they don't admit to the program until 3rd year, meaning that you have to complete 48+ credits (or basically 2 years) in a general program (It can be anything - I'm applying with an Arts background) before you get accepted. So, once you're in, you start clinical right away... but you can't start without those 48+ credits already completed (plus the anatomy pre-reqs). I hope I'm making sense :) Basically, if you have previous education, UBC-V is a very fast way to a BScN. If you're starting from scratch (no college credits) then it's still essentially a 4 year program.

Should I switch careers? (Canada)
This information is not accurate. First, UBC is not $7k a semester. From their website, "The annual tuition for Nursing, excluding all other costs ( e.g. books, housing) based on 36 credits is $5184 for Canadian residents." (That said, you're right, it's not the cheapest program around.) Secondly, upon entry to the program, UBC nursing students begin clinical right away. See their standard time table for Fall 2010: http://www.nursing.ubc.ca/CurrentStudents/documents/Term1Fall2010Schedule.pdf (clinical begins in October). Perhaps the confusion is because UBC does not admit students into nursing until at least 48 credits towards a degree have been completed (essentially, the program starts in year 3 of a 4 year degree). This means it's not necessarily the best choice for someone who is starting from the beginning; however, for students who already hold previous degrees (as the OP does) it's a good option as you graduate with your BSN in 20 months. (I'm not a UBC student btw... but I'm applying for 2011 and just attended their info session.)
