  1. Heard through the grapevine that UIH is currently on a hiring freeze so don't be discouraged if you don't get a response. I think a lot of the jobs that were posted on their job board were taken down and never filled.
  2. Jax8 posted a topic in Burn
So I just finished my RN coursework and plan to take my NCLEX in June assuming I recieve my ATT by that time :/ Anyways, I've wanted to work on a burn unit since I started nursing school. While looking at different job postings for burn units I noticed they ALL specify that you need to have ICU experience and prefer applicants with previous burn experience but browsing through this discussion board I see a lot of people say they went straight into a BICU. So any tips? My plan is to apply anyways the worst they can say is no, right? I like to think I have a pretty solid background. Nursing is a second career for me. My first degree is in biomedical science and I have six years pharmacy technician experience so maybe that will somehow make me stand out?
  3. So out of curiosity, what are everyone's backgrounds? What made you want to apply to this program? Does anyone currently live out of state? And for those of us who got accepted did you feel that you had a strong application? or were you surprised you got in?
  4. Hey everyone! Found out this morning I was accepted for acute care nurse practitioner. Can't wait to start this program and meet everyone. Good luck to anyone still waiting to hear, hang in there :)
  5. I also did not feel like I said everything I wanted to. Right now I'm doing my best not to over analyze and rethink everything I said. Overall though I felt it went well. I interviewed Monday the 5th for acute care and was told they were making decisions that day but the decisions needed approval so we wouldn't find out for a couple of weeks. So I know a decision has been made I just don't know what it is yet! so anxious to find out. Good luck to everyone! :)
  6. Congrats to everyone who found out they got an interview! I have one question, in my email regarding my interview it only gave me a floor number and a room number should I assume that I should go to the nursing building? was anyone's email more specific?.... think it might be best for me to call and clarify this.
  7. Hey everyone! I found out yesterday I got an interview for acute care! so excited and looking forward to meeting everyone in a couple of weeks :)
